There was a knock on the door just as I was lying down.
"Come in" I called out.
The door opened just as I turned on the TV.
"Mom wants to know if you booked your flight to Vegas already?"
"Not yet" I replied.
Breyana, my youngest sister rolled her eyes and hummed.
"I knew it"
I reached for my phone just as I got a notification from Instagram telling me Maddy had just posted something.
"I'll do it tomorrow" I told her.
She nodded.
"You look nice and tan"
"I went out with a few friends to the pool" I explained.
"I see"
She smiled.
"I'll let mom know you'll do it tomorrow"
Just like that, she left. I unlocked my phone to see what Maddy had posted.

We were on the same time zone, and it was 10:30PM. Maddy usually never ate this late unless it was a snack...or a date. I looked away from my phone when I heard a light knock on the door.
"Come in" I called out.
The door opened and Alex stepped inside.
"Dad said to book our flights with his card"
She handed me a credit card.
"Have you talked with Maddy recently?"
I shook my head and she raised an eyebrow.
"What did you do"
It wasn't a question, it was a demand.
"She may have snapped at me the other day" I told her.
She crossed her arms.
"What did you do"
I sighed.
"Did you know she's talking with another guy" I said.
"You know she's allowed to talk with guys, right?"
"I know that" I defended.
She slowly nodded.
"You're seeing other people, so why shouldn't she?"
I shrugged.
"That's really selfish of you"
"You're supposed to be on my side" I told her.
"I'm on the side that makes sense, you idiot"
She shook her head.
"You ruined your chances you had with her the minute you snapped at her. You basically pushed her into the other guy's arms"
"Do you know who the guy is?" I asked.
"This is why she can't take you serious. You're allowed to see other girls, but the minute a guy starts to speak with her you try to claim her. I can see why she doesn't take you serious, if a guy acted as immature like you are I wouldn't give him the time of day as well"
"So you do know his name" I said.
"Of course I do, she's actually on a date right now"
I bit the inside of my cheek.
"You know she actually called me to let me know she was going on a date. She honestly thought her going on a date with a guy that wasn't you would ruin our friendship"
She shook her head as she sighed.
"I don't know how to tell you this Auston"
"I screwed up, didn't I?" I asked.
She nodded.
"Expect a call from her tomorrow"
And just like that, she made her way out of the room. My phone buzzed as I got a DM from Willy on Insta.
Is Maddy on a date?
I replied,
I think so
To which he replied
You fucked up.
