Auston's POV- December 2016

William looked at me with wide eyes and then frowned.

"You don't speak Spanish?!"

I raised an eyebrow.

"Why would you think I speak Spanish" I wondered.

He scoffed like it was the most obvious answer. I was Mexican-American, but I really didn't know much of the culture.

"Uh cause your mom was born in Mexico? It's her Native language!"

Mitch nodded agreeing.

"Willy speaks Swedish"

"That's cause Willy grew up there" I noted.

"No I didn't, my family didn't move back until I was twelve. We just had a rule, Swedish at home and English at school"

I looked at Maddy who was nodding.

"My parents had the same rule, Spanish at home and English at school"

"Well I was raised differently" I shot back.

Willy rolled his eyes and turned to look at Maddy who smiled.

"He was lazy"

Willy chuckled.

"Which did you learn first?"

She learned Spanish first.

"Spanish, my parents wanted me to communicate with my grandparents and extended family"

I glanced up when Mo let out a sigh as he sat next to her.

"What'd I miss?"

Willy looked at him.

"Auston doesn't know Spanish, his mother's native tongue"

Mo hummed.

"The more you know"

"Can we change the subject?" I asked.

"So those cookies we were promised"

Maddy looked at Mitch and laughed.

"I promised Morgan and William cookies, not you"

He frowned as both the guys laughed at him.

"But I guess you can have a cookie"

She stood up.

"If you help"

He followed her to the kitchen like a lost puppy.

"You know if you do decide to come live in Toronto, I'm looking for a roommate"

William turned around and pointed at Mitch.

"Excuse me, but if she decides to live with one of us it's going to be me"

Maddy laughed.

"You guys do realize that I have yet to decide where I will be going to grad school"

Mitch scoffed as he used the ice cream scooper to place the dough.

"We all know you're going to get accepted. It's your top program, of course you're coming"

She smiled.

"You do realize that tuition and the approval of my workers visa are also in the way. It's expensive to live in Toronto, I have to think about rent and other expenses"

Willy shook his head.

"You live with me rent free, and I'll pay for your tuition if you cook for me"
