Twenty Six

Madeline's POV- May 2017

"Happy Birthday Will" I greeted the second he answered the FaceTime call.

He smiled.

"Thanks, did you just get out of practice?"

"About ten minutes ago, I'm home now" I replied as I got out of the car.

I reached for my wallet and stepped back to close the door.

"What kind of car do you drive?"

I flipped the screen so he could look at my blue 2013 Jeep Patriot. 

"Is this car coming up to Toronto?"

"Yes" I answered as I locked the car and made my way to the front door.

"When do you plan on moving in?"

"School doesn't start until mid September, so I'll probably try to move in at the beginning of September" I told him as I unlocked the door.

Stepping inside, I locked and closed the front door before making my way down the hallway to my room.

"Anything new?" I asked.

"It was officially announced that I'm on the roster for the World Championships"

I smiled.

"Congrats again" I said.

"Thanks, did you ever play for your National Team? Like on a Senior level"

I opened the door to my room and smiled when he cooed Poppy who was waiting for me on my bed.

"Yeah, I've represent the US three times at the World Cup of Softball" I informed him.

I was an add on considering I was a full time student. I played for the National team after my Freshmen, Sophomore and Junior year. Since I was really busy with school last year, I decided not to and turn down the offer. If I was offered a spot on the roster, I'd politely turn it down. My last game was going to be as a Gator. 

"That's really cool, I didn't know that"

I lied down and flipped the screen just as Poppy nuzzled my face.

"You have no idea how excited I am to meet your kitten"

I smiled and looked at the screen of my phone.

"Hi Alex" I greeted.

William's younger brother smiled.

"Hey Maddy"

"How are you?" I asked.

"A bit jet lagged"

That was expected, Sweden had a six hour difference.

"What about you?"

"I had practice today, and now I am home cuddling with Poppy" I replied.

"I finally meet the famous Poppy"

I nodded.

"How long do you have to be in Florida?"

"Until the regular season ends" I answered.

"Then you head home?"

"Regionals follow" I told him.

"Then you go home?"

"I sure hope not, I want to go to Oklahoma City" I stated.

"What's there?"

"It's where the Women's College World Series is held" I explained.
