As you might expect, the results were on my mind every day during the month that followed. Imagine they say, "And the winner is..." and begin a drumroll that lasts 48 days. And you'll be waiting all that time in agonizing suspense.

I tried to distract myself even though those results were at the back of my mind constantly. I got my very first job, online transcription. Basically, I had to spend hours every day listening to obscure audio interviews and typing them out – a painfully tiring job, even though I did it from the comfort of home (of course social weirdo!).

Since my plan was to study in an American college (I'm writing this from my home in Windhoek, Namibia so you should wonder what happened to that!) I started applying for the August 2015 entry and preparing for the SATs. When it came, that SAT test was three hours of pure torture. If you can imagine stressing and rushing through a test at full speed for a whole three hours, and add the fact that the results will determine whether you get into college, then you'll have an idea how it felt. Whoever invented it should go sit in the corner and think of what they've done.

And of course, through it all, I was sticking to my workout and diet plans, slowly losing the 17 kg I had gained through the year.
