ShadAria: N.I.D.S.

I see the light

Hours went by, and Shadow and Maria spent the whole day walking together. Night then came, and they were walking in a little field. They then saw little glowing lights turning off and on, flying in the air. They weren't lights. They were fireflies. Maria walked through the magical, starry night. She looked at all the fireflies in the sky. She then turned to Shadow. She walked up and held his hands.
"Shadow," she said. "Yes?" Shadow asked. "I never felt this way with anyone in my life. I never understood what love was, but now I know. We both do. And now, all I want is to do is spend the rest of my life with you." She laid her head on his shoulder, and Shadow kissed her forehead. Maria then looked into his eyes.
"Maria," Shadow said. "You are the light in my life. Wherever you go, I want to follow you. So that I could feel warm and safe. I am the ultimate life form. But sometimes I need protection too."
He smiled and she wrapped her arms around him. "I need you too," she said. "Shadow." "Yes?" Shadow asked. "There's something I need to tell you." She said. "What is it?" He asked.

Maria:

"All those days watching from the windows
All those years outside looking in
All that time never even knowing
Just how blind I've been
Now I'm here blinking in the starlight
Now I'm here suddenly I see

I'm where I'm meant to be

And it's like the fog has lifted

Shadow:

"All those days chasing down a daydream
All those years living in a blur
All that time never truly seeing
Things, the way they were
Now she's here shining in the starlight
Now she's here suddenly I know
If she's here it's crystal clear
I'm where I'm meant to go."

Both:

"And at last I see the light."

Shadow:

"And it's like the fog has lifted."

Both:

"And at last I see the light."

Maria:

"And it's like the sky is new."

Both:

"And it's warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once everything is different
Now that I see you."

"Now that I see you."

"Shadow," Maria said. "Maria," Shadow said. They looked into each others' eyes, and Shadow placed a hand on her cheek. As he did, Maria said, "Ow." Shadow looked curious. "Maria? What's wrong?" Shadow asked.
Maria then placed her hands on her chest. "Shadow.... I don't...feel so well...." She then fell to the ground, and coughed in her hand. Her eyes widened as she saw blood on her hand!
"Maria!" Shadow shouted, frantically. "Shadow...," Maria said, slowly and softly. "It's...N.I.D.S...."
