Every time we touch

A few minutes later, Eggman and Tails finally finished the Omega Care Unit.
"Quickly, bring her in," Dr. Eggman said. Silver used his telekinesis to carefully put Maria inside the suit. She wasn't good at all. She had tumors all over her body and she was feeling weightless. Shadow watched as the suit closed. Shadow looked down and hid his face. Amy placed a hand on his shoulder, but he pulled it away. Amy teared up and hugged Sonic. Sonic wrapped his arms around her as she sniffled on his shoulder. "How long will she be in there?" Silver asked. "Her's is very serious," Dr. Eggman explained. " "I don't know when she'll be cured." Shadow turned away in tears. They all stared at him. Silver looked down in disappointment.
"All this because of me...," he said. "All because I wanted to help him...but it turns out I just mess everything up...." They then all turned to Silver. "I figured Sonic would do something like this, but you?" Dr. Eggman asked. "I'm leaving...I've done too much already." He took out his chaos emerald and opened up a space-time rift. "Silver...no," Amy said. But it was too late. Silver flew in the portal as soon as she spoke.
Eventually, they all left. Except for Shadow. He walked up to the suit and touched it. "Maria...," he said, softly. He then slowly walked away from the suit and teleported away.
Time went by fast. Days turned into weeks. And weeks turned into months. After what seemed like almost a year, Shadow couldn't take it anymore. He went into Dr. Eggman's lair and found the Omega Care Unit. He slowly opened it, and found Maria sleeping.
"Maria...," he said, softly. Maria slowly woke up, and looked up at Shadow. "Shadow...," she said, tearing up. "You're here...!" Shadow smiled and kissed Maria's forehead. She smiled, and Shadow pulled her out.
"What?! Shadow! What are you doing?" She asked him. "If I get out, I might die...." "It won't be long," Shadow said, carrying her in his arms. "I just wanted to see you again and hear your sweet voice again. I...I missed you." Maria smiled at him. "I missed you too," she said. "How long was I out?" She asked. "Almost a year," he said. Maria's eyes widened. "Oh my...I never realized...." "It's okay...I'm here now," Shadow said, wrapping his arms around her.
Maria hugged back tightly, and then, she said, "Shadow." "Yes?" He asked. "There's something else I want to tell you." "What is it?" Shadow asked.

Maria:

"Maria...," Shadow said slowly, tearing up. Maria looked up at him and smiled. "I...I love you...Shadow...the Hedgehog." She then slowly let out a small tear, and closed her eyes slowly. Shadow stared down at her. "Maria?" He asked. He shook her a little, but her arm dropped. Shadow gasped. "Maria!" He yelled, tears sliding down his cheeks fast. He dropped to the floor on his knees, and cried on Maria's chest.
"Maria!" He yelled, more."MARIA!"
