"Ugh, this traffic is horrible," you complained, leaning back in the passenger seat. You and your boyfriend, Kris, were on your way to PPG Paints Arena where the Pittsburgh Penguins had a game.
Kris just hummed in response and you looked over at him, trying to read his expression. He had been acting weirdly all day and you had no clue why. You were beginning to wonder if it was something you had done.
"Are you okay?" you asked.
"I'm fine," he answered. "It's just... we're playing the Devils today."
You tilted your head, slightly confused. "And?"
"He's on the Devils."
"Oh."
You knew exactly who Kris was talking about. Alex had been a bother to the two of you since you had met him. Somehow, you had run into him after the game the last time that the Penguins and Devils had played each other. Little to say, he had been very interested in you. He was trying to get you to go out on a date with him, no matter how many times you told him you had a boyfriend. You hadn't told him that your boyfriend was Kris, and you were sure if he saw you, he was going to try something again.
"Don't worry about him, Kris," you assured him, despite your fears. "I'll take care of it."
"I know you're strong but don't underestimate him. I'm worried about you," Kris told you.
"It's alright. I'll be able to defend myself. I took a self-defense class, remember?" you said.
"Yeah. I just don't want you to get hurt."
You smiled, reaching over and placing your hand on his thigh. "I'll be alright. I promise."

After the Penguins' 3-2 win over the Devils, you waited outside the locker room for Kris. However, as you stood in the hallway on your phone, you expected to see Alex there.
Sure enough, you felt a hand on your arm that definitely wasn't Kris'. You looked up to see Alex standing in front of you, a grin on his face.
"Hey, beautiful," he greeted. "It's good to see you again."
"Hey, Alex," you said with a fake smile.
"Aren't you happy to see me?" he asked, frowning slightly.
"Yeah, sure," you lied.
"So, what about that date?" he said as his hands moved to your hips. You moved as far backward as you could, trying to keep yourself as far from him as possible.
"I already told you. I have a boyfriend," you said.
Alex hummed, leaning closer to you to somewhat whisper in your ear. "He doesn't have to know."
"Actually, I do."
You turned to see Kris standing there, glaring at Alex. He backed away quickly, intimidated by Kris' glare. You ran over to Kris, clinging onto his side as he wrapped an arm around your back.
"He's your boyfriend?" Alex said in surprise. "Kris, Iー"
"When a girl clearly isn't interested, leave her alone. You should know better," Kris said. "Get out of here."
Alex, looking very defeated, walked away from you as quickly as possible. You turned to Kris, smiling up at him before giving him a kiss.
"I love you."
