HOODIE | for CrossCzeched

"Let's go!" (Friend's Name) yelled from downstairs, quickly growing impatient with her best friend, Syd.
Syd sighed, digging through her closet to try to find something to wear. It was just one of those days where she didn't like anything she owned. They were only going to the mall, but she at least wanted to feel like she looked good while out in public.
As she flipped through the various shirts in her closet, a familiar black hoodie caught her eye. She pulled it out, looking at it as memories flooded back to her.
The hoodie had once belonged to her ex-boyfriend, Tim Schaller. It was a simple black hoodie with the Boston Bruins logo on the front and his number, 59, on the back.
Tim and Syd's breakup had been mutual, that didn't mean she didn't miss him. They both agreed that the time wasn't right for them; Syd was busy with school and Tim was busy playing professional hockey. Even then, she knew a part of her still loved him, as much as she hated admitting that.
Sighing, she slipped the hoodie on. It hadn't smelled like him for a long time, but for Syd, the memories were enough.
"It that Tim's?" (Friend's Name) questioned when Syd finally made her way downstairs.
"Not anymore," Syd replied, causing her to laugh in response.
It was a short ride to the mall, where Syd and (Friend's Name) yelled along with the songs on the radio. They went into American Eagle first, just browsing around for anything either of them liked. As Syd looked around the store, her mouth almost fell open at the sight of an all-too-familiar man.
"(Friend's Name)," she whisper-shouted, tapping her on the arm frantically as she looked over at him.
"What?" she hissed, annoyed with Syd's frantic tapping.
"Tim's here!" Syd told her.
(Friend's Name) looked over with wide eyes, spotting Tim looking through pairs of jeans.
"What do I do? He's gonna know it's his hoodie as soon as he sees me," Syd babbled nervously.
"Calm down, he's not gonna--"
Syd turned to see Tim looking up at her. He had stopped browsing and was staring at her with a shocked expression. Syd turned away to tell (Friend's Name) that they needed to leave but instead found that she was gone.
She left Syd with Tim. Great.
Syd glanced over at Tim to see him walking towards her. She quickly looked away, trying to avoid the inevitable conversation between the two. She grabbed a random shirt -- and ugly one, at that -- off the rack, using it to hide the hoodie she wore as she turned to face Tim.
"Syd," he spoke like he couldn't believe she was standing in front of him.
"Hey, Tim," she greeted, putting on a fake smile. "How are you?"
"I'm okay," he replied. "How are you?"
"I've been better," she answered, looking away. Silence fell between them, neither knowing what to say. The tension was almost unbearable.
"Syd, is that my hoodie?" he questioned almost carefully.
She flushed red, reaching over to put the shirt in her hands away, revealing the hoodie fully. "I'm sorry, Tim, I just found it and threw it on and I--"
"I don't mind," he told her, cutting her off. "I miss you. I made a mistake of ever letting you go."
Syd sighed. "We really shouldn't do this here, Tim."
"Then we won't. Let me take you to dinner, even if it's for one last time, please. If you don't want me back, then you won't have to ever talk to me ever again after that."
Syd bit her lip, thinking for a moment before looking up at him. "Okay."
