RIVALRY | for boobiebortuzzo

-

Reilly leaned over, tapping her stick on the ice as the starting lineup for her hockey team was announced. This was a big game against their rivals, who were the best high school team in the area.

She had been looking forward to this game for a while. Though she was a girl, she played on the boy's hockey team and had found herself on the second line along with her best friend and one of the team's alternate captains. She was looking forward to playing against who many believed was the best player out of all the teams her team played.

The rivalry between the two teams had been going on for years and Reilly had been dragged into it whether she liked it or not. She had made quite a name for herself, being one of the team's top goal scorers, even though she was on the second line. Because of this, she was super excited to see how she stacked up against the boy that everyone called a star; Rob Bortuzzo.

From the moment the puck dropped, she was locked in. She was all over the place, making skillful plays every time she got the puck. However, her efforts didn't lead to a goal, and the two teams were tied 0-0 going into the 3rd period. They all knew it was a big period; probably the biggest of the season.

In her first shift of the period, she decided to make it memorable. Once one of the opposing players turned the puck over, she took off down the ice with the puck on her stick. She knew Rob was close behind her, and that he would do anything in his power to stop her from scoring.

She skated as fast as she could, but though she was reaching the end of her shift, Rob was able to catch up with her. Noticing him come up beside her, she stopped abruptly, passing the puck through his legs and back to herself before shooting the puck. It rang off the top bar, bouncing off the goalie's back and into the net.

Reilly cheered loudly, jumping up and slamming her back into the boards. Overcome with emotion from taking the lead in such an important game, she yelled, "how do you like that, Bortuzzo!"

Obviously, Rob wasn't too happy about this. As Reilly's teammates crowded around her, Rob skated towards them, getting in her face. One of them tried to pull him away but he was persistent in telling her off.

For the first time, Reilly was able to see him up close. Upon doing this, she made a shocking discovery; he was actually really hot.

"What're you gonna do about it!" she spat at him after realizing that he had stopped yelling. She pushed him away before skating towards her bench to celebrate the goal.

At the end of the period, the score was still 1-0, resulting in a win for Reilly's team. They celebrated loudly, happy with their performance.

As Reilly left the rink, she spotted Rob talking with some teammates. She couldn't help but look at him. Her eyes scanned over him as she walked by, and as she glanced back up at his face, she found that he was looking at her. She looked away quickly, her face burning with embarrassment the boy—the cute boy— had caught her staring.

"Hey, Reilly!" a voice called. She turned around to see Rob jogging towards her. Her heart leaped when he saw her, embarrassed that he had caught her staring.

"Good game," he told her, smirking slightly as he handed her a paper. She took it from him and he walked away without another word.

As she continued to walk to the bus, she opened the paper, reading what had been written;
