Music blasted in (Your Name)'s ears as sat at the bar, tapping her foot along to the beat

Music blasted in (Your Name)'s ears as sat at the bar, tapping her foot along to the beat. It was a somewhat rare occurrence for (Your Name) to find herself at a bar like this, but she had come alone, hoping to find someone to amuse her for the night.

So far, she hadn't had any luck. She didn't mind being alone. She enjoyed the music and the drinks.

"Excuse me," a male voice said, interrupting her thoughts. She set her drink down and turned to him. The man was tall--probably over 6 feet-- and had messy brown hair. He immediately struck (Your Name) as being cute. However, he looked nervous and somewhat frantic.

"Yeah?" she questioned, confused.

"I'm sorry to bother you, but my crazy ex-girlfriend just walked in and she's been staring me down," the man told her. "Can you pretend to be my girlfriend? Just until she leaves?"

(Your Name) thought for a moment before shrugging. She was alone, and the man standing in front of her was undeniably cute. Why not?

"Sure. Sit down, I'll buy you a drink," she offered, and she not-so-suddenly checked him out as he sat down on the stool next to her. She got the bartenders attention, allowing Carter to buy a beer on her tab.

"So, crazy ex, huh?" (Your Name) questioned, picking up her drink and propping her elbow on the table.

"Yeah," Carter replied. "We dated in high school. I broke up with her because she was really possessive. She got even worse after we split. She was awful."

"Man, you coulda' used a beer after that one," (Your Name) joked, earning a chuckle from Carter.

He agreed, "yeah, most definitely." He glanced to the side and immediately looked panicked. "She's walking towards us. What do I do?" He looked at (Your Name) with wide eyes.

"Carter, don't call me crazy, but kiss me," she said, just blurting out the first idea that came to mind.

After a moment of shock, much to (Your Name)'s surprise, he replied, "okay."

(Your Name)'s heart raced as she leaned in, pressing her lips to Carter's. She lingered there for a second, making sure the kiss looked authentic before pulling away. Carter's eyes fluttered open, and he smiled shyly at her before glancing over to where his ex had been.

"Is she gone?" (Your Name) questioned. Carter nodded. (Your Name) took another sip of her drink. Too bad, she thought. Carter was definitely not the worst person to kiss.

After that, the two continued to converse. Carter had spotted his ex a couple more times, and though she never attempted to walk over to the two, (Your Name) made sure to make it clear that there appeared to be something between them.

It was fairly late when (Your Name) decided to call it a night. She paid for their drinks before making her way out of the club, Carter following behind her.

"You live around here?" Carter questioned, shoving his hands in his pockets.

"Nope. I'm calling an Uber as we speak," (Your Name) replied, tapping away on her phone screen.

"I'm walking distance from here. I'll wait with you," he told her, and she looked up from her phone.

"You don't have to do that, Carter," she told him.

He smiled. "It wasn't a suggestion, (Your Name)."

She just rolled her eyes, looking back down at her phone. Silence then fell between the two. Once (Your Name) put her phone away, it had become quite awkward.

"Hey, (Your Name)?"

She looked up at Carter. "Yeah?"

"That girl back there, she was my ex, yeah, but she wasn't crazy," he admitted, and (Your Name) gave him a confused look. "We actually ended on good terms. I saw you from across the club, and you were pretty, and when I saw her I thought it was the perfect opportunity to talk to you."

(Your Name) took in his words for a moment, then laughed. "Damn, if you wanted to talk to me, you could have just done it." She smiled over at him like she was trying to communicate with him with just her eyes. "I'm definitely not complaining about kissing you, though."

"Really?" Carter questioned, a playful look in his eyes.

"Yeah. You're cute."
