(DON'T) FALL IN LOVE

-

"There's only one rule," the words of her father echoed in her head, "don't fall in love with him."

She finished the remainder her beer in a few large gulps, glancing over at Auston again. She knew he was going to be here: having just turned twenty-one, she knew he would be out celebrating with his teammates.

Mikayla Biggio had never met Auston Matthews. However, she felt like she knew him personally. Upon turning eighteen, she was finally putting her years of training to the test.

She had grown up around a family of hitmen. Her father begun in the profession, and both Mikayla and her older brother, Ryan, followed in his footsteps. They had been trained to kill since a young age. For them, it was like learning how to read. However, their father didn't allow them to kill until they turned eighteen. Ryan had had his chance years ago, and Mikayla's turn was finally here.

Auston's family was rich. His father, Brian, was one of the most powerful people in Arizona. Auston was the poster child: he always did whatever his father said. Because of this, when his father died, he was to inherit his father's wealth. However, there was one person that wasn't too happy about this: Auston's brother, Alex.

Alex had never been his parent's favorite. To start with, he had been adopted at a young age. Because of the trauma he had experience with his birth parents, he got into drugs and alcohol. He was always getting into trouble, though he was nearly forgotten by his parents.

He wasn't supposed to find out about his father's inheritance. He had found it on a document that Brian had left on his desk one day. Alex was furious; he was as much of Brian's son as Auston was.

So, Alex came to Mikayla's father for help. He was one of the most talented hitmen around: he hadn't missed a hit in years. That didn't seem to matter to Alex, though, as he allowed Mikayla to take the job for his father. Besides, they both figured that having a girl do the job would be easiest.

Make Auston fall for her and then kill him. Simple.

Auston glanced at her from across the room, a look of lust in his eyes. She almost smirked when she saw this; this was going to be easier than she expected.

He dismissed himself from the group, walking towards her. She spun around, pretending not to notice him as he sat down next to her.

"What's a girl like you doing here?" he questioned.

"The same thing you're doing," she replied, a small smile painting her lips. "Just having a little fun."

"Do you mind if I join?" he asked, smiling.

"Not at all," she replied, flipping her hair away from her face.

"I'm Auston," he told her, though she already knew this.

"Sabrina," she lied. It was key that she kept her identity a secret. If someone figured out who she was, she'd be screwed. Any police officer would take any chance they could to finally put her father in jail.

"Well," he began, "let me buy you a drink, Sabrina."

-

Mikayla tapped her fingers the table nervously. After eighteen years, she was finally going to kill someone.

It wasn't a hard task. She had slipped something in Auston's drink: a clear, unnoticeable poison. Though it didn't work quickly, it did the job.

However, Mikayla was faced with a problem. She didn't want to kill Auston. Against her better judgment, she was starting to really like Auston to the point where she was sure she had feelings for him. There was no way in hell she could actually kill him.

"You alright?" Auston questioned, looking over at her. He had noticed her strange behavior.

"I'm fine," she told him. Lying to him was something she was used to, but she didn't enjoy it by any means.

Her heart almost stopped as he grabbed the glass, bringing it up to his lips. If she made her decision just milliseconds too late, he would be dead.

As he began to tip the glass up, she jumped forward, knocking it out of his hands. The drink spilled and the glass shattered on the floor. Auston looked at her in disbelief, both shocked and confused.

"I'm sorry, Auston, but I'm not who you think I am," she said quietly. "My name is Mikayla Biggio. My father is Lorenzo Biggio, famous hitman. The truth is... your brother hired me to kill you. He found out about the inheritance of your father's money."

"Why did you do that, then?" he questioned quietly.

"Because I broke the one rule my father gave me and I fell in love with you," she told him. "So, I'm leaving you with a choice. Either you stay here and get both you and me killed, or you run away with me and have a chance of surviving."

Auston thought for a long moment, before muttering the words Mikayla was waiting to hear: "Let's go."
