The time and training between my cohort and I has grown exponentially. We have done a lot of Basilisk cleaning from the camp. The creatures are really annoying and there are numerous amounts of them. We slayed them and made armor from their hide for many of the new people arriving here.
The armor were mostly gauntlets for their lightweight and acid resistance. Their teeth were used for Marc's arrows. He liked them better than other arrow heads, because of the venom they deliver can paralyze most monsters. Jake kept trying to get Lexi's attention, but she would always have plans or avoid him.
I was on my bed holding the small black ring, trying to remember what happened after obtaining it. "Hey Cory, Lexi wanted to know where you went after the fireworks on 4th of July." Marc said from the door way. He was wearing a tight air force T-shirt, and combat pants. "Oh yeah sorry, I was trying to remember something. The fireworks reminded me of Shōwa day, and certain people." I said trying to explain myself.
"Never heard of that holiday." He said. "I can't remember much of the holiday's meaning but my ribs hurt when I think to hard about it." I informed him. A picture of a dark haired girl staring up at the fireworks made my heart sink because I could not place who she was or why I knew her.
"That's ok, it's been a week since that day so she was just wondering." He added and made a protective gesture. "I'll meet you at the assembly today, news on the Greeks." I said and waved as he walked away. The word Greeks rolled of my tongue, yet my mind took it as an insult.
Walking up to the path, Terminus, a statue holding a god's will protected the assembly area. "All weapons must be removed before entering. Only Conhort leaders and up are allowed to pass for the meeting." He said with a matter-of-fact voice. "Cory Matthews 20th Conhort, permission to enter?" I asked him. "Leader recognized as Marc. What buisness do you have to enter?"
"I have dreams about the Greek camp, and request the council for permission to explain them." I answered the statue god. "Permission granted, but the no weapons rule still applies." Be said and motioned with his nose for me to place my weapons on the sile near him.
"The ring as well." he said before I even got up from putting my sword and knife on the sile. "Yes sir." I said to him and removed my ring. "Sir?" He asked me, but gave me no time to respond. "I like you mortal." He said and pointed with his nose down the path.
"This is stupid, we shouldn't wait any longer. The Greeks should be taken down." Some one in a long purple tunic, with horrible bleach blonde hair said. Octavian, he was a child of Apollo. But he complains like a child of Venus. "Octavian, until we get any word from Reyna we will not advance more than our scouts." One of the other council members said.
"Reyna? That traitor? She ran off to go help the Greeks. Along with that Grace kid." He said with a snear. "Why wait? They are inferior to us, and the gods know it." He added.
The council debated for what seemed like forever. "Well let me bring this to the stand." Octavian said snapping me out of my daydream. "That person right there is a child of Diana, the only one, male." He added, bringing everyone's attention on me. "Is that a bad sign?" Someone asked from near the back.
"Not only that, he has dreams of the Greek camp." He seemed to want all the Greeks and anything related to the topic persecuted. "Wait. Stop, how do you know that?" I stood and asked him.
"You will be silent until spoken to." He snapped harshly at me. "No. If you are talking about me, I will talk back. How do you know about that?" I asked him, not backing down.
"As a son of the prophet God, I learn many things about the future.
The child of the moon will arrive very soon, to lead and destroy something so doomed. The ancient ground on which they walk, the enemy will be out talked. In the heart the darkness lies, with empty fear it shall rise.
That is the future told to me." He recited a something that sounded like it was a nursery rhyme.
Murmurs and mumbles where exchanged between everyone. "So, I believe that we should send him to scout the Greeks out. They might even be taken down like the prophecy says." He ushered to me for the council. "Hey, I didn't sign up for...." I cut myself off to think.
'The dreams. That girl with the dark hair. The amber/gold eyes that show up in my memory. Maybe she is in that place I dream about. What if she isn't real, what if I am just tortured by this fake dream. I will go if they give Octavian full control over the camp. No way they would agree for such a small victory.' I thought to myself. I slammed my fist on the table, and made a few people jump. "I'll do it, but on one condition."
"Name you condition." Two of the council members said in unison. "I will do this task if, and when you rethink Octavian position. I will stake my actions on him being the leader of this camp, and it's army." I said with a confident smile.
"That is a request to think about. But that shall be looked apon by us. I personally...accept Octavian as a candidate for leader." One council member said. "I second that." Said another one. Soon all the council members agreed with my bluff.
"I believe that since Octavian has presented such a good source, and obviously can count on Apollo's sight. We accept your conditions. This meeting is over." With that the meeting was over, and I was on a one way train to stupid-ville.
After the meeting Octavian approached me while I was getting my weapons back. "You have gained me an army, I will repay you. I know about that ring you wear. I can tell you it's origin." He said in a low voice. But instead of continuing, he walked away.
