The new jacket fit snugly. The fur made my neck hairs stand up, other than that the thing was perfect. The fur moved with the wind so I could always tell the direction of the breeze.
The Dire wolf pelt was extremely resilient, which made it easy to keep myself from getting hit by attacks. The Dire wolf was one of the strongest pack monsters. The magic in the pelt was only able to be cut by demigods, or natural enemies of the Dire wolf.
That means it was perfect for hunters, or demigods. Although it takes skill to make the pelt not turn to ash so it's very rare to get a full jacket from it. This was all information Lexi told me.
"Just don't machine wash it, the special oil will be ruined if you do." She warned me, with a smile. I was already packed but something unfortunate happened.
As my friends were seeing me off, Octavian did something to change everything. "That ring you wear, I wanted to let you know it's full potential." He held out his hand as if to shake mine.
I reached to shake his hand and then it went down hill from there. He grabbed my wrist so I couldn't pull away. He twisted my ring, and a spark ignited something deep within me.
The ring split into two pieces, and smoke engulfed me. With in seconds the same feeling from last night rushed over me. My claws returned, my fangs stretched, and something new happened.
From my pants, they suddenly grew tight but not the normal buw-chica-wow-wow kind of thing. I suddenly grew a large fluffy tail.
Talk about weird, and definitely not great for a camp made of monster killers. After the smoke was done doing its voodoo, it went back into my ring.
Octavian didn't react well, he drew a sword and attacked. My senses were faster, but so blinding that I couldn't get my body to move. The sword was blocked by Lexi. "Stop, we still need him." She said defensively.
I could hear their hearts beating. A weird color smoke seeped from everything, I think they were scents. The shades and colors of the world were more vibrant making the sunlight harsh to my eyes. There was this feeling like when a body part falls asleep in my tail region.
It was as if it was asleep til now, it coiled in my pants and tickled the back of my left leg. I stared at Lexi in awe on why she would defend me, especially from someone who was now in charge of the camp.
"Think of a way we can use the fact that he isn't human." She added and blocked another attack. "What? You mean try to get it to build us a monster army?" Octavian said fast.
I growled in the back of my throat for being called an 'it', although I couldn't let that make anything bad happen. So I stayed still and thought about what to do.
'If I agree with what they say, I will live long enough to see that person in my dreams. The way my lips tingle when I think about her, must mean something. Even if I have to get this person a mortal heart, I will do it.'
"I could do that." I said, not knowing why Octavian did this to me. There was a familiar gleam in his eyes, but it was so subtle that my enhanced senses could barely detect it.
"Fine, we shall see how useful you can be to us." He said and motioned for a few of the guards standing in front of the barracks. They arrived with chains, and a silver blade.
"Put on the cuffs as a show of good faith." He spat out the words good faith. Instead of doing anything stupid I put on the cuffs. He poked me with the silver blade and got me moving towards the arena where the Roman demigod council members watch their Allies train.
The cuffs were starting to drain me, literally. There was a Latin mark on the side of them. Must have been made to drain a monster's energy.
Cooperation or death. Those were my options, and they were not great ones. He led me to the center of the giant place. demigods in armor and weapons everywhere.
"My fellow sons and daughters of Gods, I give you the very creature that will be our key to winning back our Roman gods true form. It is a werewolf that can enter demigod camps freely. Not only will this creature bring more of its kind to help us fight, but it also knows the enemy camp." He let that sink in to everyone's mind.
I didn't move. How could I? There was a whole camp of warriors standing tall, and watching my every move. The air was thick, and my throat was dry.
'So your true form starts to break the mist. You should be more careful.' A voice spoke in my head. I twitched at how familiar it sounded. 'Who are you?' I asked it back. 'I am the most important and ancient being. You of all people should know my name child of Artemis and Diana.' The voice had a hint of a mocking tone.
'I don't know why you talk to me like a guide; fore, you have taken away my life.' I thought back to it. My claws now seeming to ache to slash the voices owner.
'Once your twin awakens again, you will destroy what takes your love.' She said before I lost the sense of her presence.
"If you are with this idea, say 'I'." He shouted into the quiet air. "I!!" The arena uproared in agreement. And then I realized that I was in for some real trouble.
