In the armoury there were weapons of all kinds, all bronze. Gena walked around picking up random ones: swords, Shields, bows, daggers, maces, axes...ect. She was looking around, half-hearted. She didn't seem to into the weapons I thought would be good for her. I desplayed a short sword but she shook her head at it.
This one weapon seemed to catch her eye. "Wow its so awesome, and it feels perfect." She was holding a bronze colored battle axe, with a three foot long chain hanging from the handle. "Look I can swing it around and stuff." She said really amused. "Okay Gen, but you have to stick with it. And we are going to have to train you tomorrow." I said seriously."Oh so your going to be my trainer?" She asked excitedly while swinging the axe wildly in the air. "Yeah, I don't want you getting hurt out there, where ever it is we are going." I replied.
"Awe you care about me so much." She giggled a little. My face started to burn from blushing so I turned away. 'God why do I blush so much?' I asked myself while sighing. "What's wrong Cory?" She asked after hearing me sigh. I didn't meet here eyes. Even with Andrew here, I was still intimidated by her
"Nothing just thinking about stuff." I replied while smiling a bit. Gena started to poke my cheek and give me a pouty look. "Why you lie to me? Why you no tell Gen-Gen." she said in a pouty, childish voice.
"Haha, no its nothing, but that was cute." I said laughing a bit. To change the subject and keep Gena from prying at my thoughts. "Ok let's meet back here tomorrow." I said because it was late and we only had tomorrow left til we go on the quest.
Andrew was the first to be dropped off, his cabin was closer to the armoury. He didn't say any goodnights, he just walked in without a look back. Next cabin drop off was Gena's. "Ok, goodnight I guess. Sleep tight, also don't dream about me to much now." She said with a giggle as she walked into her cabin. "Night." I replied walking away to my cabin.
I slept dreamless and quiet that night. Yet there were these brief moments where I woke up clawing at my bed. It felt like I was trying to remember something. A face showed up in these moments. Cold and blank expression on her face. Her eyes showed no life and there was blood on her lips.
I awoke to the sound of knocking. "Cory, wake up. No need to dream about me, cause I'm right outside." Gena's voice came through the door slightly muffled. I got out of bed, and mentioned that I needed to change. "Okay, I'm going to get dressed. Don't peek." She didn't, or at least not that I knew of. I got dressed and then headed out the door to greet her.
The image of the girl didn't stay in my head. Without thinking about it, it just faded into the back of my mind. After gathering a chest piece and a helmet in the armoury, we followed Andrew back to the arena. It felt different without all the cheering kids and anger. "Let's get started, you are going to show me what you know. Then Cory and I will give you tips. We will work all day, because we leave tomorrow." Andrew said to Gena breaking the silence.
She nodded and raised the axe. There was a bright glow or aura on her at that moment. I couldn't help but stare. She was beautiful. I couldn't tell her that without falling over my own words.
Not smooth at all. Couldn't be helped though. I was willing to tell her or even hint. But who does that now? "Hey glad you have an axe and all. I think you are cute, sorry your dad wasn't your real dad. Also those jeans look great on you." She would swing the axe at me without reason, and that would just be giving her one.We trained for a few hours. Gena was so quick with learning guess it was in her blood. She could now twirl the axe by the chain, then somehow fling it from behind her back and strike one of the post we were using. After all that training, I felt closer and happier with her.
She almost took off my head once or twice. Good thing my spear was quick to help me block. Not a fun way to start a journey. Plus, you wouldn't know what happened if I did die at that moment.
Not much to say on how she was learning. She didn't like to swing out much, unless she had an opening. She felt better blocking. It was as of she was shielding her heart. Afraid to reach out. But I'm a guy, what do I know about hearts? If I did. Breaking them usually makes someone crazy."Ok that's pretty much everything you could learn in seven hours. Its a lot for a beginner, but you catch on real quick." Andrew said congratulating her. "I'm so tired, and hungry. Wait let's get some food, before we sleep. Oh wait the food could be Taco's." Gena exclaimed and said without wasting a breath. She started walking to the dinning hall. "Is she always like this?" Andrew asked. I look over to see her fist pumping the air while shouting. "Taco! Taco! Taco!"
"Yeah she is always like this. And to be honest, I wouldn't want to change her. She is perfect just the way she."
