Kennedy's POV
I slipped on my robe and stared at myself. "Come on Kenn!" My dad shouted. I grabbed my phone and rushed downstairs. Brandon wrapped his arm around me and we headed to the school.
I waited patiently for my name to be called, my hands were shaking rapidly.
"Next, Leona Bryan, who is graduating with a 3.8 gpa, and will be attending New York University on full scholarship," The principal began, "She was homecoming queen, class secretary and basketball captain," He finishes and we all clap.
"Next up, Kennedy Causey, she is graduating with a 4.0 gpa, will be attending University of California on full scholarship," She began, "She was our softball captain, volleyball co-captain, prom queen, one of the drama class founders, and class Valedictorian." She finishes.
I walk across the stage, shaking hands and receiving my diploma. "Go Ma'!" I hear a loud voice from the stands. I sit down, seeing Nate. We sat longer and I finally began to pay attention.
"-Savannah Johnson, she graduates with a 4.0 gpa, she will be attending New York University on full scholarship," She continues, "she was Volleyball captain, head of yearbook committee, runner up for prom queen, basketball co-captain, a drama class founder, and was voted most friendly in class favorites,"
"Go Savs!" I smile, a tear running down my eyes. Once everyone received their diplomas, we were all seated. "Now we will have a speech from our Valedictorian," The principal steps aside.
I made my way up to the podium, clearing my throat.
"We have been through alot together as students, we all waited for this moment but are deep down aching at the fact that this might be the last time we all see eachother, we've been through drama, happiness, sadness, and confusion, together, now we're going our separate ways. We always felt like family and it hurts to know that we will be distanced. But i would never chose anyone in the world to be my classmates other than you guys, and I'm so proud of all of us for making this far, I wish you guys the absolute best, thank you," I sniffle stepping off the podium.
The stadium was filled with claps and I stood by my chair. "Graduates please stand," The principal commanded, "I give you the class of 2017!"
We all remove our caps, throwing them in the air. People started fleeing the stands to come see their family. My parents hugged me, and so did the girls. "Ma?"
I turn around to see Nate, and I jump in his arms. "I'm proud of you," He whispers. "Thank you," I respond. "We might have a problem," he mummers.
"Wh-" I was interrupted by my dad clearing his throat. "Dad, this is Nate," I quietly said. He already met my mom, and him and my brother were cool so it wasn't a problem for them. "Nice to meet you," My dad says shaking Nate's hand.
"You too sir," Nate responded. "He your boyfriend?" Dad asked raising an eyebrow. I shook my head, "No Dad,"'I chuckle,"
"Hello Nate!" My mom says hugging him. They conversate, while i look for Savannah. "Kenn!" I heard her voice. I ran to her hugging her tightly. We both instantly start crying. "You're leaving me," she frowns. "Please don't say that," I cry bringing her in for another hug.
"Savs, come on," Her mom says. She just holds me tighter. "Please come over tomorrow," I nod and she runs off with her mom.
