Chapter Two
Maison's POV
New York, the land I was born in.
"Maison!"
I looked up to see Raylene, Jess's cousin who helped Dad rescue mom and her son Josiah.
"What up brother!"
I laughed and hugged him first. He was like a brother to me ever since they found out mom had died.
"Been too long."
"Okay my turn."
I pulled away and hugged her, picking her up.
"Oh my god."
"Someone's getting heavier."
Josiah laughed, taking my bags.
"Come on there's a big party at the river tonight."
"Perfect!"

"So how everyone back home?"
"Fine, the usual."
"Excited about next week?"
I shrugged. I was nervous, but I didn't want them to know that."
"You wanna talk about it?"
"Mom!"
I laughed shaking my head.
"Not really, it's just that I wish they were here that's all."
"They are, in spirit, but they are."
"You always say that."
"Maybe you should listen to me more often then."
We arrived just as the two little ones came running out.
"Seems like the word got out."
I laughed and got out.
"Maison!"
I was hugged on the leg by Joanna at only eight years old, but my eyes were on Josie.
"What no hug?"
She smiled and ran up to me.
"Hey baby girl."
"Hi."
"Happy birthday."
"You remembered."
I put her down and looked at her."
"Of course I did. I wouldn't be here if I didn't."
She wrapped her arms back around me and I couldn't help but love the way she felt against me, just like mom did.
"Alright you two."
I looked up to see John with his hunting gun. I put Josie down and went up to him.
"Hello Sir."
"Oh John, they were just hugging."
"Not with my baby girl, he aint."
"Daddy!"
"It's alright Josie, he has a point I shouldn't have hugged you that long."
I winked her and looked back to her dad. I was glad I wasn't Alpha yet or this would be bad.
"How long you stay this time?"
"Just a week."
"Too long."
