Josie's POV
“MAISON!"
He came out of the water and I ran straight to him, jumping into his arms. Something was wrong, something didn't feel right. I pulled away and looked down at him, seeing the same frown.
“What's wrong? Did they do something to you?"
“No, I'm fine, but you and I need to talk."
I nodded and jumped down. We didn't hold hands like we were use to and I didn't feel like it either.
“I found my mate."
I didn't mean to blur it out like that, but I did, now I if I could just tell him who it was. He didn't say anything until we came to our tree and sat down.
“How do you feel about it?"
“He's not who I expected it to be. I even ran away when I knew it was him."
“So you're not happy about it?"
I sighed, I wasn't so sure anymore.
"I don't know. I mean, god wouldn't place us with them if he didn't think they were good for us."
"You're speaking for the both of us now?"
“In general, why did you find yours?"
He looked away and nodded.
"But I'm rejecting her, I don't want her nor do I ever want to be with her."
“Who is it?"
He turned back towards me and shook his head.
"I can't tell you, I don't want anyone to know."
“Not even me?"
"Especially you. You always see the good in everyone and I know for a fact she's not and your mate isn't either."
"How do you know that?"
“Because I know its Vince."
I looked away, of course he would know, he never not knows anything.
“Baby girl!"
"I know what you're going to say."
"Do you?"
He then leaned in giving me a kiss.
"Feels different, doesn't it?"
I nodded my head.
“This sucks."
We both laughed, looking at each other.
“What do we do?"
He shrugged, getting up and leaning against the tree.
"I don't want to be with her, but I know she'll be useful."
"Useful in what?"
I got up and turned him.
“Maison, you've never kept anything from me before, what is it that you're not telling me?â€
He looked down then back at me.
“Christian Devaro was the person who killed my mother and father."
