Chapter Nineteen
Maison's POV
"Josie?"
She stepped back and I walked in wondering why she was in my mother's apartment. I swore I wasn't going to speak to her again, but it was really hard when we've never as so much as fought before.
"Josie, what are you doing here?"
She shrugged, she was clearly still made at me.
"Josie, I'm sorry alright? I was upset and I wasn't thinking."
"I don't care Maison, I'm over it."
She went to the couch and sat down, pulling a pillow against her chest.
"Josie, what are you doing here, shouldn't you be at school, getting ready for graduation?"
I sat down next to her and was about to lift her chin, when she pulled away.
"Don't touch me, I don't want to be touched."
I sighed, running my hand through my hair.
"Look I'm sorry..."
"I said I'm over it!"
I was thrown back by her sudden burst of anger, but she soon was crying.
"I'm sorry..."
"It's okay, I deserve it."
"No, you don't. I'm not angry at you, I'm angry at myself!"
She then leaned her head to the side and that's when I saw it.
"Josie, your mark... it's gone."
I had the urge to touch it to make sure it was real, but she pulled back.
"I know it is."
"When?"
"Yesterday, after I got rid of the baby."
My heart dropped to my stomach, making me jump out of my seat.
"I got so angry after we spoke that I just..."
"Don't!"
I was angry with her. It was a baby, an innocent baby and she just... was she blaming this on me? We stood silent until I turned around and looked at her.
"Why? Why would you go and do that?"
"Because I'm not ready and neither is he."
"Did you even tell him what you were doing?"
She shook her head and planted her hands into the palms of her hands.
"He found out though just as it was done."
I sat back down, lifted her chin.
"What did he do?"
"Nothing... at first... he just stood there and looked at me with these eyes that..."
She shook her head and looked back down.
"He was devastated. I could feel his heart breaking and then he took his mark away."
She wiped her eyes and looked back at me.
"And I let him... I let him."
I pulled her into my arms then and let her cry.
