It had been a little over a week since you had last seen Evan. After that fiasco, you hadn't really wanted to talk to him, and he hadn't wanted to talk to you. He was too busy surrounded by his followers and his girlfriend to talk to you, anyway.

It was early Saturday morning, and you had decided to go on a jog. You jogged around town, and when you passed by Evan's house you eyed it wearily. You saw a car pulling into the driveway and realized that Mrs. Hansen was home. You were about to turn the other way in an effort to avoid her, but it was too late. She smiled and waved at you, and you had no choice but to go over to her.

"Hey Y/N!" She said in a friendly voice. "Going for a little run, huh?"

You smiled. "Eh, more like a big run."

She chuckled at your humor. "Hey, why don't you come in for a cup of coffee? You look like you could use some."

You were taken aback. You thought that Mrs. Hansen must have hated you at this point, after backstabbing her son, and here she was, inviting you for a cup of coffee?

You knew there was no point in arguing. "If you insist." You told her.

"Great!" She said enthusiastically. "C'mon in!"

You followed Mrs. Hansen into her house, noticing how quiet it was. You sat down on the couch while Mrs. Hansen went into the kitchen. You wondered if Evan was still sleeping.

As if on cue, Mrs. Hansen said, "Evan went out. Said he had to 'clear his mind' and whatnot."

Well, at least he isn't here, you thought to yourself.

"So, how do you want your coffee? Black? Extra sugar?..." Mrs. Hansen asked.

"Oh, if it's all the same to you, Mrs. Hansen, is it okay if I have hot cocoa instead? Coffee and I don't go together." You told her.

"Of course!" She responded, rummaging around the kitchen, preparing your drinks. "And don't bother calling me Mrs. Hansen, call me Heidi."

You smiled to yourself. A couple minutes later, she came into the living room and handed you your drink. You gave her a word of thanks, and she sat down next to you. After a moment of silence, she finally spoke.

"I know how things are going between you and Evan, Y/N." She told you. "And I want you to know that I'm not mad. I'm actually grateful. You finally knocked some sense into my son's head. I've been trying to do that for seventeen years."

You smiled warmly at her. "It was just something I had to do. I mean, after all, I couldn't bear to see him like that, just ignoring everybody. And let me admit, that even though I helped with the emails, they're getting way too out of hand."

Heidi pursed her lips. "About that," She was about to keep on going, but was cut short. Evan had come home and was now standing in the doorway, staring at you with wide eyes. And you were staring back.

"Hey mom," He said to Heidi. "Um, d-do you mind if I steal Y/N from you for ten minutes?" He asked.

"You can ask her yourself." Heidi told him.
