I wake up in a room with white walls, a white floor, and machines are surrounding me. "Well," I think to myself. "This is familiar." I look around and my arm feels numb. I turn my head and realize that it's in a cast. Again. The funny thing is, I have no idea what happened, or how I ended up here. I begin to call out for a nurse, but before I can, two figures walk through the door.

"Zoe. Jared." I say. "What are you guys doing here?"

They look uncomfortable. Zoe is playing with her hair, and Jared is shifting from foot to foot. Suddenly, Jared speaks up. "Um, Evan do you...know why you're here?"

I snort. "What kind of question is that? I broke my arm, obviously."

Zoe and Jared look at each other. Zoe walks towards me and sits in a chair by my bed. "No Evan," She says in a gentle voice. "He means, do you remember what happened?"

I search my brain for an answer. After moments of silence, Zoe speaks again. "Okay Evan. We'll take you step by step through what happened, and if you remember anything, tell us, okay?" I nod, and they begin.

"You went to the orchard because you were having some...problems."

"You decided to climb a tree and you were going to jump."

"We arrived. With Y/N..."

When I hear her name, it's like my memory's been cleared, and I suddenly sit up. "I remember. I do. Where's Y/N?" I ask in a panicked frenzy. Jared and Zoe exchange worried glances. "Guys...what happened?"

Jared and Zoe argue silently through their body motions, and after a minute Zoe began to speak. "Evan, Y/N climbed up the tree in order to go after you. And when you jumped..." Zoe said slowly. "You took her with you."

The room becomes dead silent. I stare straight ahead, refusing to make eye contact with the two of them. Jared awkwardly clears his throat, and I look up at him. "Is she okay?" I whisper. He nods, and I breathe a sigh of relief. "What happened to her?"

"Minor concussion, broken wrist, bruises and scratches. But you know Y/N. She's a fighter." Zoe says.

I nod and smile. "Can I see her?"

Silence once again fills the room. "Um, I don't know if the doctors will let you get out of the room. you know, they're very strict about this stuff, and-" Jared began to say, but Zoe cut him off.

"Let him go, Jared. Just let him get a glimpse of her. He's probably worried sick to death."

Jared nods, and I begin to slowly get out of bed. Zoe opens the door and I follow her down the hall. She makes her way into a room that is identical to mine, except in the room is a girl who stares at me with mixed emotions in her eyes. I can see anger, frustration, sadness, and pain, but behind all of that, there's a little bit of relief. I swallow and come closer to her, and she watches my every movements. I sit down in a chair next to her bed and Y/N finally speaks.

"What have you done, Evan?"

A/N: You guys are the friggin best. Just had to say that.

Toodles!
