Zoe cut into your little speech. "Y/N...do you think he..." She asked in a quiet voice.
You looked her straight in the eyes. "Yeah. I do."

After a minute of silence, Zoe was the first one to speak. "What should we do Y/N?" She asked you.
Jared spoke before you could. "We find him and pray that he's alive when we do." You and Zoe looked over at Jared, who was still staring at the floor. He chuckled. "Son of a bitch."
Silence once again filled the room as the three of you searched your minds for any clue as to find Evan.
"Okay, if you were Evan, where would you be right now?" You asked them.
"Home." Zoe said.
"Crying my ass off wherever the hell he does that sort of shit," Jared remarked. You shot him a glare. "Uh, sorry. Maybe he went for a walk in the forest?"
You took a sharp inhale and Zoe snapped her head up. "TREES!" All three of you yelled. Heidi came into the living room. "I heard you guys yelling. Are you alright?" She asked.
"We know where to find Evan." You said.
Her eyes widened. "Really? Where?"
"Um, it's kind of complicated. We don't know his exact location, but we have a sense of where he might be." Zoe explained.
She exhaled and nodded. "Well, I'll call my boss and tell him I'm taking off. If you guys need a ride, I'll drive."
Jared started to speak. "It's okay Mrs. Hansen, yo-"
You cut him off. "Thank you so much Heidi. But we'd feel better if you stay here. Zoe has her car, and anyway, the cops will be arriving soon, right? Don't worry. If we find him, you'll be the first one to know."
You stood up and took her hands in yours. She nodded and said, "I know he's in safe hands with you, Y/N," She patted your cheek. "Bring him home."
You, Jared, and Zoe walked out of the house. Zoe hopped into he driver's seat while you took shotgun. Surprisingly, Jared didn't complain. "Where to?" Zoe asked.
You closed your eyes and wracked your brain for answers. "Well, he wouldn't want someplace too public where people would see him. So....." You thought out loud.
"The orchard." Zoe said quietly. "He would go the orchard. It's still undergoing construction. There wouldn't be many people there."
You took a deep breath. "Drive."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The three of you sprinted across the long stretch of grass, surrounded by trees. It made sense why Evan would come here.
"There!" Zoe yelled, pointing her finger to a nearby tree. You turned and ran as fast as you could to the tree, where you could see Evan crouching on a branch.
As you got closer to the tree, you got a better view of Evan. He was shaking, and tears were streaming down his face. The sight of him looking so terrified and so lost brought tears to your own eyes.
"Wh-What are you guys doing here?" He asked, choking back a sob.
You smiled through your tears. "We're here to get you down, Evan."
He seemed to relax. "Really? Why would you-" He stopped himself and shook his head. "No. No. You need to go. I made my choice, and there's nothing stopping me. Nobody cares about me. I'm nothing. Just plain old Evan Hansen."
You inhaled sharply, think of what you should say. But before you could speak, Zoe piped in. "We care about you, Evan. That's all that matters. Everything that happened before is gone. Yes, people might find out about the Connor Project. But we will protect you, and we'll stand by your side. Please, Evan. Climb down."
He bit his lip and shook his head. You sighed. "If you're not coming down, I'm coming up Evan."
"Y/N...." Jared warned.
"Don't worry. He wouldn't risk hurting me." You told him.
You approached the base of the tree and started climbing. Evan was a good length up the tree, enough that if he fell, he wouldn't be alive after he hit the ground. Climbing the tree was a bit of a struggle. You were sure you would get out of there with some scratches and bruises, but none of that mattered. Soon, you were crouching face to face with Evan.
"Evan please," You whispered. You took his hand and cupped his face with your other hand. "Climb down with me."
He hesitantly nodded. You made your down a couple of branches with Evan behind you. Your hand was still on his arm and you could see Jared and Zoe smiling from down below.
Evan suddenly stopped. "I'm sorry Y/N." As he prepared to fall off the branch, you tightened your grip on his arm. The last thing you remembered before falling to the ground was Zoe screaming your name.
