We were on the road, heading to Dallas, Texas, and the guys were taking a nap in the bus for some rest so I decided to call my mom.
"How's the tour going so far?" My mom asked and I replied, "Great, actually. The guys are awesome and Uncle Ben is working hard."
"Aloha Nani!" My uncle hollered, and my mom started giggle, "Sounds fun. What band are you traveling with?"
"I don't think you know them. They're an Australian band called 5 Seconds of Summer."
"Yeah, no clue, but sounds like they should stop by Hawaii."
I giggled, "Yeah, for five seconds."
"Definitely. Let's make this literal."
I started laughing even more, "Oh mom, I miss you."
"Miss you too, sweetie. Is Frank doing okay?"
"I don't know, I haven't called him yet." She sighed, "Are you still avoiding him? He maybe much sometimes, but he's still your dad."
"I know, but I just want time away from him. What I left behind is something I don't want to deal with for a while."
"I understand." She said, "I just want to tell you this, Lani, I know you didn't bring that knife. I know you wouldn't do that, Lani."
I smiled, "Thank you, mama."
"Always, honey. So, I want to ask you something."
"Yeah?"
"Is there boy in mind?"
I rolled my eyes, "Oh god, no."
"Uh-huh, sure. Tell me his name."
"There's no guy!"
"Lani, I am your mother. I know what's up in your life, now tell me!"
I sighed, "Okay, there's one but I don't know-"
"Nope! You mentioned a boy, so tell me about him! Not what's gonna happen in the future. You'll figure that out on your own when it actually happens."
I sighed, "His name is Luke. He's the guitarist and lead vocals of the band and mom, you know how I feel about piercings, right?"
"Yeah, that they're metal skin ruiners."
"Yeah, but Luke haves lip ring that is UGH. Every time he play with it, it's like he's being a total tease." Okay, I know this awkward talking about a boy like this to your mom, but honestly, she doesn't even act like her age. She's like an older sister to me, "AND, his voice. His wonderful, husky, lovely voice. AND his height! He and the guys are so tall but him. His height is just..wonderful. His hair is wonderful. His eyes are wonderfully blue. Luke in general is..."
"Wonderful." My mom laughed, "I get it. I see you like that boy a lot. To the point that you tolerate piercings."
"I KNOW!" I exclaimed, "Can you believe it? I don't know if he likes me though."
"Why not, Lani?"
"Well, I overheard him, and the guys talking about how we can't work out."
"I mean, he is from Australia."
"I know...that's what sucks. And the fact I'm an emotional mess."
"Oh God, Lani. Don't be such a drama queen."
"But it's true! No guy can handle me."
"Except Uncle Ben." My mom joked, and I laughed, "Yeah, except Uncle Ben."
"Look Lani, it's not that you're hard to handle but sometimes, guys are just more comfortable with the chill side of a girl. That emotions are too much to deal with for guys and that it's impossible to understand. Trust me, if a guy can do the impossible, then he's worth it. So, give Luke some time to get to know you and you'll both know the answer."
I sighed, "You have a point."
"It's only been four days with the guys, so chillax and enjoy! You're surrounded by talented Aussie musicians. A lot of girls would envy that."
I rolled my eyes, laughing, "Okay, Mom, I get it."
"He sounds like a great guy though. Well, physically, are you guys close?"
I shook my head, "No, not really."
"You guys should get close then since you two are attracted to each other."
"I don't even think he is, Mom."
"Honey, I can tell you two have something going on based on how you talk about him."
"That doesn't mean he likes me!"
"Trust me, Lani, like what they say in Tangled, Mother knows best."
I rolled my eyes, but giggled, "Okay, okay." Then I heard a curtain open, meaning someone woke up.
"Uh, I gotta go mom. Somebody woke up."
"Okay, I love you, Lani!"
"Love you too, Mama."When I hung up, Luke walked to the seat in front of me and literally plopped down on the seat.
"Good Morning." I giggled for he looked so adorable being half awake. His eyes were slightly closed, and his hair is all messy. Ah, I wanna fix it. He started rubbing his eyes, and sighed, "Morning." There's his super husky sleepy voice. Damn you hormones.
"Had a nice nap?" I asked him, and Luke just groaned and put his head down, "I want to sleep more."
"Then go sleep more."
"No," He stood back up, and grinned, "I want to give you some company."
I bite my lip, but tried to play off by rolling my eyes at him, "I was doing fine on my own."
"Uh-huh," He smiled at me, "So, where were we yesterday?"
