Chapter 16: Broken Promises

Uncle Ben woke me early since he told me he had to do a pit stop at a gas station. Apparently, we got lost throughout the way, and had to take the longer way to the next stop. I rolled up my sleeves, and started to make some breakfast and it was of coarse, my famous french toast since that's all the ingredients I have left.

"I KNOW THAT SMELL." I heard someone cheered, and I knew exactly who it was.

"FRENCH TOAST." Ashton cheered, and plopped on a seat, "Yes! It's been forever."

"It's been a few days, drama queen." I chuckled as I slipped two french toast and two bacon strips on his plate, and hand it to him, "Now eat it up. Busy day ahead of you."

"When is it ever not a busy day?" Ashton said as he poured the sauce on it and put the cut up bananas on it.

"True," I nodded, "Very true." I finished making enough french toast for everyone, and sat next to him.

He was quiet for a bit until I heard him coughing for dear life. I looked at him, "Are you okay?!"

Ashton swallowed really hard and gasped, "Wrist!" My heart dropped and realized my sleeves were rolled up, exposing my scares. I immediately put down my sleeves, and hissed at him, "SHHHH." I didn't want Uncle Ben to hear this since he's driving right now.

Ashton sighed, "Wha.."

"Let me explain." I said in a low voice and looked at him, "Just hear me out, okay?"

He was about to say something till he closed his mouth and nodded. I explained to him, "Yes, I used to cut. The reason why I did it is because I reached to that point of my life that I felt like I was loosing it.." I poured every reason why I used to cut. Ashton was just looking at his food, not moving, and listening to everything I have to say. Well, it's true everyone! Ashton is an awesome listener.

When I was done, I felt a tear fell down my cheek. I wasn't crying but I was definitely tearing up. I wiped my cheek, and sighed, "But I stopped because I promised my step brother, Leo, that I would stop during this trip and after. So, that's why they're all dried out."

Ashton was quiet for a while till he took my wrist, and trailed his fingers over it lightly. "Don't only promise him," He said with a soft voice and kissed my wrist, "Promise me, Luke, Calum, Michael, Jenna, Ben, and everyone else that cares about you, Lani." Ashton looked up at me, and cupped my cheek, his thumb wiped away another tear, "You're beautiful, okay? You're not crazy, and that guy who dumped you is a total idiot because he lost a wonderful girl, but thanks to him," Ashton all of the sudden starts hugging me, "WE CAN HAVE YOU TO OURSELVES."

I rolled my eyes, and chuckled, "TOO MUCH LOVE IN THE MORNING, ASH."

He let go, and put his arm around my shoulder, "No time of day is ever too much love, Lani." He gave me that wide smile, "Also, Luke can have you to himself. Lover boy just haves to learn how to share."

"It's not even like that!" I groaned as I took off his arm, "I mean, we're just friends." Utter bullshit since we get all touchy with each other.

"Okay, so, you two kissing each other's cheeks is not like 'that' to you?"

"We don't kiss each other's cheeks! Besides, what happened at the concert was only one time and it was Calum's idea."

"Oh really?" Ashton rose his eyebrows at me, "Then what about this then?" He took out his phone and showed me a pic that Luke tweeted. I took his phone, and was utterly shocked on what I saw. It was a pic of me and Luke from last night and it was the one with him kissing my cheek. The tweet said, "Pay back to the girl who stain my cheek last night! Lani is definitely the bestest friend ever :)"
