Chapter 12: Baby Steps

Jenna and I were in dressing room, playing with her ukulele.
"Got a song request?" Jenna asked as she was strumming her ukulele, and I nodded, "Let's go with an oldie but goldie. Lullaby?" (www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvO9uOyp...)
"Definitely." Jenna smiled at started playing the song, and I sang a long. We used to do these duets and we would harmonize the singing. It's been a while since we did this.
When we were done, the door opened and it was Calum and Luke.
"Are you guys ALWAYS together?" Jenna jokingly asked and I nodded, "Yes." while the two of them said, "No."
"I'll take Lani's word for it." Jenna said, and we high five on it.
"Of coarse you would." Calum said as he sat down next to Jenna, pointing at the ukulele, "You play?"
Jenna nodded, "Yeah since I was ten."
"Nice," Calum nodded, "That was some singing skills you got there." Jenna rolled her eyes, "What skills?"
"Does eye rolling run in the family?" Luke chuckled as he plopped next to me, putting his arm around my shoulder, and I crossed my arms, "What do you mean?"
"You roll your eyes constantly." He grinned at me and out of habit, I rolled my eyes. When I caught that, I scoffed, "I hate you."
Luke started laughing, "See! It's like an exercise for your eyes."
"Whatever." I pouted, and Luke started poking my cheeks, "Come on, don't be like that. It's cute when you do your eye roll."
"So you're saying that Jenna is cute when she does it." I looked at Jenna who turned her head at us when she heard name, "What?"
I giggled, "Nothing. Nothing."
Then Luke whispered close to my ear, "I think Calum calls dibs on Jenna."
I looked at him, and whispered back, "Really?"
He nodded, "I mean, look at him."
So I did and Calum and Jenna were smiling and laughing. Every time Jenna would strum her ukulele, Calum would stare at her, and keep smiling.
"He looks like a puppy." I smiled, "It's so cute."
Then I looked at Luke who was looking at me already, "Don't you think?"
Luke let out a sigh, and nodded, "Yeah, it is."
I smiled, "I think they would be a cute couple." I looked at them and couldn't help but to smile, "Ah, seeing them together is just picture perfect. Oh!" I took out my camera from my bag, pointed it at Jenna and Calum, and took a picture.
When Jenna heard the camera, she looked at me, laughing, "Why did you take a picture?"
"I couldn't help it!" I smiled, "You two are so cute." Jenna started laughing, and sighed, "Ah, I'm getting thirsty."
"Want me to show you where the vending machine is at?"
"Can you please?" Jenna smiled at him and he nodded, "Yeah, come on."
When they were about to head out, Calum pointed at Luke and me, "Don't do anything naughty while we're gone."
I shook my head, "Whatever." While Luke joked, "Can't make any promises."
I slapped his chest, "Stop it, you pervert."

I sneezed again and Luke took a tissue for me, smiling, "Bless you."
I took the tissue and blew into it, and sniffled, "Thank you."
"Still sick, I see." Luke leaned back, and I nodded, "Yeah, but I'm getting better."
"Did you take your medicine?"
"Fuuu." I slapped my forehead, "I forgot."
"Oh Malulani," Luke groaned as he got up, and took his bag, "I knew you would forget."
He took out my medicine and a chocolate chip granola bar, "Here." Luke gave it to me, "Eat some of the granola bar first then drink your medicine then finish the bar."
I smiled, opening the bar, "Thanks, Doctor Hemmings."
"That haves a nice ring to it, don't you think?" Luke smiled at me, and I shook my head, "Sure it does."
While I was eating the bar, I said, "So, Calum and Jenna."
"Yeah, you know," Luke said as he scooted closer to me, "Calum was looking for Jenna earlier and he can NOT shut up about her. Like, he said how she's really tiny, and haves a nice smile and other stuff. I think you worked some magic on him."
I started laughing, "I told him he would like her."
"Yeah, I can tell there's something going on with Calum."
I nodded, "I knew it. I know those two will hit off soon."
"How are you so sure about that?"
I shrugged, and I looked at him, "Anything could happen."
Luke was looking at me for a while and stayed silent.
"What?" I smiled at him, "Why are you so quiet all of the sudden?"
Luke shrugged, "What you just said made me thinking."
"About what?"
He shrugged, "A lot of things."
"Come on," I leaned back next to him, and it's close enough for our shoulders to touch, "You can tell me anything."
"Well," He rested his head on top of mine, "I'm just glad that you came a long. I mean, the boys and I have fun together but having you around brought us closer."
I giggled, "Oh god, you guys were pretty close before I came in."
He shrugged, "This is something different. This bond is somewhat better than before."
"So, you're saying your happy I'm around? What does that have to do on what I said earlier?" I looked at him, making him lift up his head.
"I'm saying," he looked at me, "when you said anything could happen, I thought of you happening in our lives."
My eyes widened at him, and my heart started pounding.
"I mean," he sighed, and looking away from me, "You're becoming one of my best friends."
"Are you kidding me, Lucas?!" I thought to myself. One moment, Luke will be so kind to me, treating me as if we're something more but then this happens, and friend zone me.
Luke rested his elbows on his knees, "I'm sorry that I'm becoming such a softie."
I giggled, and leaned forward to me face to face with him, "It's okay." I suck in my breathe, moved closer to his face, and kissed his cheek, "I find it cute."
Luke looked at me in shocked, and his face started to turn pink.
"What?" I scoffed, trying to act cool, "You asked for a peck earlier." I got up, and sighed, "What's taking those two so long?"
Luke was still sitting there, looking at me, stunned. I laughed, "Hemmings," I waved my hand across his face, and Luke blinked, "Sorry, uh, I don't know. I haven't noticed how long they're taking."
I nodded, "I bet. Well," I walked towards the door, "I'm gonna look for Jenna. I don't want to loose her."
He nodded, "Okay, that's a good idea."
"Wanna come with me?"
Luke shook his head, "I'm fine. Go ahead. I'll catch up with you later."
I nodded, "Suit yourself."
When I opened the door, I see Jenna and Calum standing there, laughing about something. Jenna saw me, and said, "Hey! Sorry we took so long. Blabber mouth over here wanna keep talking."
I laughed, "That sounds fun. Jenna, can you come with me to the bathroom?"
She nodded, "Yeah, definitely."
