I feel all groggy. I think I finally went to sleep at 3 am or something like that.

“Jesus, Lani,” Natalie said as she sat next to me in history, “Got hit by a bus or something?”

“I wish.” I sighed, “But Luke and I got into a fight last night.”

“Was it because Ian asked you to Prom yesterday in a huge flash mob way so you had no choice but to say yes?”

I nodded, “That was definitely one of reasons.”

Okay, yes, I got asked to Prom. Who knew? The guy’s name is Ian Bell and he’s in my photography club also. He’s a cute asian guy, and a dancer also. He asked me by doing this huge flash mob during lunch. All attention was on me, and there was so much pressure. It was ridiculous. So, I couldn’t just say no to a huge flash mob with everyone watching me.

“And you said no one would ask you.” Luke groaned, obviously annoyed when I told him what happened at school during our time webcamming.

“I thought no one would ask me because of the stupid incident.” I explained, “And I came back when Prom already started so I thought everyone would have dates by then.”

“Okay.”

“Luke.” I whined, “I’m sorry, I couldn’t say no to him. It was so public.”

“I said okay.” He was busy looking at his phone, then someone called out for him saying, “Dude, let’s go. Vanessa is here now.”

“Vanessa?” I asked and he replied to the person, “Tell her I’m coming.” Then looked at me, “I gotta go.”

“Who the heck is Vanessa?” I demanded to know but he just said, “Don’t worry about it. Bye.” and hung up on me.

I just stood there in total shock. I just starred at my laptop for a good an hour thinking about what happened.

I called Calum, and I asked him about this Vanessa chick.

“Oh god, don’t mention her to me.” He scoffed as he was on his phone, obviously texting Jenna, “I’ve seen her and she’s a friend of one our mates. I think they’re heading to the movies but I couldn’t go cause I have a family party later. Vanessa is an okay chick, but not my type. Too much ego.”

I nodded, “Okay.”

“Lani, don’t tell me your worried that Luke is cheating on you.” Calum smiled at me, and I groaned, “I DON’T KNOW. He got upset with me because a guy asked me to Prom and he’s about to hang out with a girl with a pretty name that anyone could say, who is also Australian so they have culture similarities, and probably super pretty because she haves an ego.”

“A pretty name? Malualni is pretty!”

“Yeah, but it’s all complicated and stuff.

“And seriously? The Australian theory? Lani, you’re freaking Filipino, Hawaiian, AND English. How is that not attractive?

“UUUUUGGGGGHHH.” I shouted, and laid back down on my bed, “I DON’T KNOW!! CALUM, I’M WORRIED.”

“LAAANI.” Calum chuckled, “You have nothing to worry about it! He’s gonna be with a group of friends and watch him come back, calling you, and apologizing on how stubborn he was being.”

“And watch me look like a total idiot when I expect him to do that but doesn’t even happen and still be mad at me and falls for Vanessa.” I looked at Calum and snuggled the penguin Luke got me during the tour.

“Lani, Luke is probably worried also because a guy asked you instead of him. You know how Luke is,” Calum grinned at me, “he doesn’t like sharing.”

I started laughing, “That’s true.” I looked at my penguin and remembered how Luke would hog me and gets upset when the guys need me when we want our time together, “You got a point.”

“Of coarse, besides, he’s probably just in a bad mood since he hasn’t been getting any sleep.”

I sighed, “Because of me.”

“Nooooo.” Calum groaned, “Stop blaming yourself. I promise it’ll get better.”

“Fine. Whatever you say, Calum.” I sighed.

So after webcamming with Calum, I texted Luke saying that I’m sorry about everything, and hope we could talk later.

He never responded.

Then I tried again, asking where is he, and no respond after that.

When I was about to go to sleep, I never got a text back from him. I literally stayed up till  3 am just to wait for his text back which I never got. I started crying on the fact that Luke ignored my text for a hell of a long time, and never bother to check up on me. I was getting scared now. My biggest fear is now happening. What happens if Luke Hemmings is fading away from me?

“Lani, that is ridiculous.” Natalie scoffed as we were eating lunch together, “Luke is just being stubborn right now and probably get back to his senses soon.”

“But what happens if that Vanessa chick really takes him away from me?”

“Like that’s ever gonna happen. If Vanessa is not even Calum’s type, what makes you think she’s even close to Luke’s type?”

“I don’t know..” I sighed, “I’m just scared.”

“And your thoughts are getting mixed up with reality right now.” Natalie started patting my head, “Stop that! Nothing even happen yet and remember there’s that ridiculous time difference in America and Australia. Just give Luke some time, yeah?”

I nodded, and mumbled, “I guess you’re right.”

“I know I’m right.” Natalie smiled, “Just chillax and focus on you right now.”

Natalie was right about Luke giving some time because he finally texted me back after school saying,

“You have absolutely nothing to worry about, Malulani. I’m sorry that I never texted back and treated you like total crap. I know sending you an apology text is crappy also but I promise I’ll make it up to you. I promise because I love you so much, Lani. More than anything.”

I can’t help but to smile, and reply,

“Okay, Hemmings, but don’t you dare ever treat me that way ever again, got it? That was cruel and awful. I forgive you for now because I love you, but I never want that happening ever again.”

He immediately replied,

“I love you Malulani Mai Esme Mercado, and I swear that I will never do that. I can’t webcam later because something came up with the family but I promise I’ll talk to you later.”

My heart kind of fell when he said he can’t webcam me later.

“Okay, I love you too, Luke. Talk to you later!”

After that day, we haven’t been webcamming at all lately. I’ve been busy trying to make plans for Prom with my friends while Luke has been either hanging out with his friends or family, but Calum told me that Luke has been acting a lot better lately since he got his sleep.

“Lani, don’t you wanna webcam later?” Luke texted me.

I seriously don’t want him to get in a bad mood again, so I texted back saying, “Don’t you think it’s better if we should cut some webcamming time together?”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, ever since we started webcamming, you’ve been loosing sleep. I’m worried about you, Luke.”

“Lani, I’m fine. I just want to see you, that’s all.”

“I know, but I don’t want you to loose sleep, and ruin your health because of me. We should just stick to texting for a while, Hemmings. It’s better for you.”

“But don’t you miss me, Lani?! I mean, you’re practically on the other side of the world away from me. I thought you cared about me.”

“LUKE. OF COARSE I CARE ABOUT YOU. THAT’S WHY I WANT YOU TO BE HEALTHY AND SLEEP.”

“I CAN SLEEP ANYTIME I WANT, LANI. IS IT BAD THAT I JUST WANT TO TALK TO YOU AND SEE YOU?”

“I’M NOT SAYING IT’S BAD IN GENERAL. I’M SAYING IT’S BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH.”

“OR MAYBE YOU JUST DON’T WANT TO TALK TO ME BECAUSE YOUR BUSY WITH IAN.”

Okay. That’s it. “YOU WANT TO BRING IAN INTO THIS? FINE. GO AHEAD AND TALK TO YOUR NEW GIRLFRIEND, VANESSA, SINCE I’M BUSY WITH IAN.”

“Wait, Lani. It’s not what you think with Vanessa.”

“Whatever, Hemmings. You think I’m so busy with Ian then go to Vanessa. She’ll probably give you better company. Good bye.”

After that, I turned off my phone immediately. I covered my face to let myself relax after that heated bickering.

“Oh my god...” I sighed, and fell back into my bed. I am completely drained after what happened, and just want to sleep.

I can’t believe this. Are Luke and I really fading away?
