Lily's P.O.V
It was safe to say that Lily Evans was very unhappy. And when Lily Evans was unhappy nothing was right, even the organisation of her books wasn't right because 'Mary! I don't care if it's a nice colour coordination they're going in alphabetical order.'
And why was Lily Evans talking about her herself in the third person? Because it stopped her from ranting to herself. And why was Lily Evans unhappy? Let me tell you why. Her ex-best friend was the reason she had spent the week in a hospital bed after almost dying, she had fought with her current best friend, she hadn't even made it two days back at school without technically participating in a duel and... there was one other thing. Now what was it? Oh, yeah, she was each day falling more and more in love with James Potter.
Yes I just used the words 'love' and 'James Potter' in the same sentence. And that was the first time I had admitted it to myself. I was in love with James Potter.
And that made me feel even more nervous to go down to breakfast this morning. I was finally aloud to leave the hospital wing this morning and I was so happy to get to see actual people apart from Madam Pompfrey. Apparently it was considered 'necessary' for her recovery to have enough rest.
I practically ran to the Great Hall anxious to see all my friends and hopefully make up with Marlene even though I was aware had not tried to visit me once. It still hurt more than expected, I mean Marls was my best friend and I know I had said stuff in the heat of the moment but our friendship was stronger than that, wasn't it?
'Hi' I said enthusiastically and smiled at Sirius, James, Remus, Peter, Alice, Frank and Mary.
'Alright, Evans?' Sirius said looking up.
'How you feeling?' James asked concerned.
'Fine. Erm where's Marlene?' I reassured and then realised Marlene wasn't sitting with them.
James gave Sirius a sympathetic look and Sirius inhaled sharply.
'Marlene's been skipping breakfast all week. Mainly because I'm here.' He said sadly.
'Why?' I asked confused.
'Marlene is under the impression, I have a thing for you.' Sirius said tilting his head.
'What? Where did she get that idea?!' Where on earth had Marlene got that idea?
'We had an encounter the night of your... incident. And I may have used a poor choice of words and before I could finish Marlene--'
'Had come to her own conclusion' I finished and he nodded.
'Yeah.' He said.
'Do you know where she is now?' I asked
'In the common room I suppose' Remus inputted.
'I'll go talk to her' I said but Sirius continues to stab his bacon with his fork.
As I got up I glanced back at my seven friends and noticed something on James neck.
'James?' I asked slowly he had just had a mouthful of pumpkin juice and responded by going 'hmm?'
'What happened to your neck?' James had two big deep wounds on his neck that looked like they had been made by a sharp dagger and looked as though he had acquired them painfully.
'Erm' James glanced alarmingly at Sirius, Remus and Peter 'let's just say, the Whomping Willow makes a Blast-Ended Screwt look about as threatening as a Flobberworm.' He forced a laugh and so did the other three and everyone else went back to their breakfast.
