Chapter 26 - Loved?

James' P.O.V

Marlins beard Lily and Marlene took forever to return those books! It was about ten o'clock before I heard the portrait open. I was falling asleep as I didn't realise how long I'd been waiting, and I couldn't pull myself out of it until Lily lay next to me on the couch and I immediately wrapped my arms around her. She threw a blanket over us and I felt as if I could lay there forever, protecting her. That's what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, protect Lily and have a family with her and then protect our children.

Lily Potter. It has a nice sound to it. Then I drifted into deep sleep.

*8 hours later*

'James,' Lily's sleep voice pulled me out of sleep 'We have to get ready for school.'

'Nooo,' I reply hugging her tighter 'I don't want to move.' I nuzzle my face into her red hair.

She threw the blanket onto the floor and I groaned at the cold but the heat of fire still crackling soon washed over me. I yawned and watch Lily as she walks over to her room.

'I'm gonna go get changed, I'll be quick so wait for me.' She smiled opening the door.

'I waited six years Lils, I can wait ten minutes.' I wink at her as she smiles again.

Realising I needed to change as well I grabbed my uniform from my room and put it on quickly. I go to wait in the common room for Lily until I here muttering from behind the portrait and slowly walk toward it before opening it silently and tip toed through the portrait hole. I listen very closely for the people on the other side.

'No! I am going to find out it they're going out or not!' A high pitched sickly voice made it's way through the painting. Lisa Honey.

Oh Merlin, not her again.

'Yeah but what do we do if one of them finds us lurking around here?' One of her 'friends' asks, sounding anxious.

'Does it matter?! I need to know!' She whisper shouts, the way she talks to her friends is so disrespectful. Sirius would never take any of that - he'd slap me on the head and tell me to get over myself!

'Why?! Why do you need to know?! You're not together anymore!' The same girl retorts and 'fair play' to her I think.

'Because then I will know if he really did break up with me for that bitch!' Honey says and I can feel the anger building inside of me. Lily is NOT a bitch she is the sweetest, kindest person on this earth, unlike Lisa who dedicates her life to ruining and causing drama in other people's.

'What are we listening to?' Lily whispers behind me and I jump slightly as she chuckles.

'Lisa and her so called friends,' I say as Lily looks at me in confusion, 'She is waiting for us to come out to see if we're going out.' I explains and Lily's expression changes.

'Well if she has a problem she can talk to me about it.' She says swinging the portrait open as Lisa and her friends all whip around alarmed.

'What are you doing?' I whisper to Lily, I'm not upset, just worried that if Lisa starts to mouth off Lily will hex her face so it's backwards.

'Lisa, honey, do you have a problem?' Lily smiles and I snigger at her remark about her name.

'Er— I—' Lisa stutters but still tries to look as though she has control over the situation, which she doesn't.
