Soda's POV

I woke up when kahleia  crawled into bed with me.  She was shaking me slightly to wake me up.  "What's wrong sunshine?" I asked her twirling the ends of her dark brown hair.  "Dare bare and horsie are fighting." She said starting to cry. "Come on little sis let's go see what's going on." I said getting up and picking her up to carry her to the living room. Darry and pony were yelling at each other cause pony came home late. Kahleia is only 5 years old and is going through a phase where loud noises like yelling scare her to death if she can't see what's going on. She is such a cute little girl. She was wearing one of Darry's old shirts. It was one of his football shirts I knew that  because it has his name on the back. She loves wearing Darry's old football shirts. "Guys what's going on!?" I yelled interrupting the screaming match that had been going on.  "Pony came home late!" Darry yelled back. Kahleia had a death grip on me. She is scared to death that one of us are gonna run away. Darry and pony started yelling at each other then at me. I sat Kahleia down and started yelling at them to chill out because they were scaring her.

KAHELIAS POV

Horsie and dare bare were fighting and now bubby is fighting with them. I can't take this anymore. I know I'm not supposed to go anywhere by myself especially at night but I have to get out of here. Maybe Johnny is at the lot.  I have walked to the lot thousands of times with Horsie and bubby and dare bare and the rest of the guys. They are my best buddies. I know horsie and dare bare and bubby is not my brothers names I just call them that because I don't like to call them by their real names.  I like their real names just fine but I don't like to call them those. I guess cause it don't feel special enough. I ran out the door of the house without my brothers even seeing me.  I ran the way  I was pretty sure was the lot. I was right. The bad thing was Johnny wasn't at the lot. None of my best buddies were. Then I started to cry cause I got scared a little when I didn't see anyone with me. I didn't know how to get home either.  I only knew the way here because Stevie taught me.  Then I heard a car driving up to the lot. I was hoping it was one of the guys and that they were coming to take me home but I was wrong.  A bunch of guys got out. I don't know how many they was.  I think about 5. They walked over to me and looked at me. Then they seen the back of the shirt I had on. I had on one of Dare Bares shirts on. I like to sleep in them.  Plus I out grew my old pajamas and didn't want new ones.  I heard them talking about the name on the shirt and what they were gonna do to me. None of it sounded very nice. I have heard my brothers talking about rumbles and stuff about fighting and from what I could tell they were gonna fight me. Then one of them spoke to me and I got real scared. "You a Curtis?" He asked. I nodded my head yes.  "Is your older brother Sodapop?" He asked in return. I nodded my head yes.  I was to scared to talk.  He looked at his friends than nodded his head. They all came running at me. One of them grabbed me and held me down. Then the others started hitting me. I screamed and cried for bubby and dare bare. I guess one of the gang heard me but I really didn't know. I tried to stay awake but i started to fall asleep. That was weird because I was to scared to sleep. I finally gave into the feeling and hopped they would stop hitting me.

DARRYS POV

Soda pony and I had been so absorbed in fighting with each other that we had no idea that Kahelia even ran away. We didn't know till Dallas carried her limp little body into the house. He yelled at us. Dal looked really worried. He loved my kid sister so much the whole gang did. I call her kissy. I call her that because it's so much easier than saying kid sister or kid sissy.  She loves that nickname. "Where did you find kissy?" I asked dal taking her limp body from his arms.  "She was in the lot. She was yelling for you guys.  Darry is she gonna be ok. I got bucks T-bird out front if we need to take her to the hospital." Dal said.  It was almost like a cry for help. I looked at her. I knew she had been hit several times and hard. I know her frail body couldn't take as much pain as ours could so I had no idea what to do. "We need to get her to see a doctor." I said running to the door with her in my arms. I ran to the T-bird and pony, dal, and soda followed. I jumped in the back seat with her in my arms. Pony got in the front seat and soda got in the back with me. Dal drove as fast as he could. In no time we were at the hospital. All of us had shed at least one tear.  We skidded to a stop. And I got out of the car with kissy in my arms. I ran in. My brothers and dal behind me. A nurse came over and put her on a gurney. "What's her name?" The nurse asked.  "Kahleia Dee Curtis." I said. The nurse nodded her head and pushed her to a room. I told Soda to go call the rest of the guys. He nodded and walked over to the phone. All the guys were there at what seemed like no time flat. Soda was about to loose his mind.  All of us were.  But soda the most. Him and kissy are really close. After about what seemed like ages a nurse came back out. "Who is the family of Kahleia Curtis?" The nurse asked. All of us stood up. The nurse walked over. "How is she?" I asked frantically. "She is ok as far as we can tell. She will be covered in bruises and will be in pain for a while." The nurse said. All of us smiled in relief. "You can come see here now. I must ask though what happened to her?" The nurse asked. "She got jumped." I stated plainly. The nurse frowned a little. "That's horrible. Who would do such a thing to a sweet young girl like her?" The nurse asked. "None of us really know. All we can think is some Socs jumped her." I said. The nurse looked about my age. She knew the struggles between the two social classes. "That's horrible. Come on I won't keep you guys from her any longer." The nurse said leading us to a room.

Kahleia's POV

I woke up in a strange place. It wasn't my room. When I woke up though I seen my brothers and best buddies. "Bubby. Dally." I said.  They were the first people I seen.  They both jumped and up and came over to me. "We're here kid." Dally said to me. He seemed sad. "Where are we bubby?" I asked. "We are at a hospital sweetheart." Soda said. He seemed sad to. after I looked at everyone else they all seemed sad to. "Is someone hurt bubby?" I asked. "Yes sunshine someone is hurt." Soda said. Then I felt a pain in my side. And I cried out In pain. Everyone in the room jumped. I just wanted someone to hold me. "Hold me bubby." I cried holding my hands out to soda. "Sorry sissy I can't." Soda said. "I want you bubby." I cried again.

Soda's POV

"I want you bubby." Kahleia cried again. I couldn't pick her up.  The nurse told us not to.  I looked at the bed for a second. It was big enough for both of us to fit into it. "Scoot over sis." I said. "Why bubby?" She asked me. "Cause I'm gonna catch-up on my sleep." I said jokingly. She laughed and so did the rest of the guys. She moved over and I climbed onto the bed beside her. She snuggled up to me.  She soon fell asleep. I tried to get up but she had a death grip on me once again.  A doctor came in to tell us the latest on what is going. "She is gonna be in pain for a while. She will also have several bruises as I'm sure you guys can see. The good thing is she will be able to go home in the morning. I figure about 12 or if she eats something, sooner than that even. I will be prescribing her some pain medication. Who is her legal guardian?" The doctor said.  "I am sir. The names Darryl Curtis." Darry said standing up. "This is the prescription that you need to get for her." The doctor said handing Darry a piece of paper then turning on his heels and leaving the room. We all talked for a little while and some of us fell asleep. I fell asleep. At about 6:00 Darry was waking me up. He told me to wake Kahleia up to. He had went and got her some food so she could go home sooner. She ate happily. The doctor came in while she was eating. When she was done he asked her how she was and if she was much pain then gave her a checkup. He told Darry that she could go home. We were all happy. When we left the hospital we all had a smile on our faces. I bet we were a sight for sore eyes. A bunch of hoods smiling with a little girl like Kahleia. It was gonna be a long rode for her healing but we can all do. We all went happily home where Kahleia was smiling happily with the rest of the gang like she never got hurt thanks to the pain medication. Everything is turning out ok.  As long as it stays that way I'll be happy.
