"I'm gonna go out for a little bit." I said as I walked out the door of the house. "Sure thing little buddy." Darry said. I walked out the door and down the street to the big open field with the one tall oak tree that never seemed to not amaze with it beauty. I was carrying a blanket to lie on the ground. I spread the blanket out under the big oak tree.  I laid down on the blanket and just sat there watching the clouds until Gracie showed up. "What ya doin sodapop?" She walking around the tree. "Just waitin on you." I replied with a smile. She giggled and laid down beside me. "What do ya see in the clouds?" She asked after sitting in silence for a little while. "Different shapes. A few dogs, a cat or two, and a horse."  I replied. "I bet that's mickey mouse!!" She said with a giggle. "You think?" I asked her looking over at her beautiful smiling face. "You bet." Gracie said with another laugh. I couldn't help but laugh along with her. "You wanna hear a joke?" She asked after being quite for a few minutes. "Sure" I replied. "Yay!!! So here it goes. A Texas rancher was visiting a farmer in Israel. The proud Israeli showed him around. Here is where I grow tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash. Over there I built a play set for my kids, next to the doghouse, the farmer said. The land was tiny, and the Texan was surprised by its small size. Is this all your land? he asked.Yes, the Israeli said proudly. This is all mine! You mean this is it? This is all of it? the Texan said incredulously."Yes, yes, this is really all mine!""Well, son," said the Texan, "back home I'd get in my car before the sun'd come up and I'd drive and drive and drive, and when the sun set, why, I'd only be halfway across my land!  Oh, yes, replied the Israeli farmer wistfully, I used to have a car like that." Gracie said telling her very long winded joke. I couldn't help but laugh to. At this point Gracie and I had been sitting here for a few hours. "How's the gang?" Gracie asked out of nowhere. "Their fine." I said. "How's pony's grades in school?" She asked. "Better than ever. He's acing all of his classes. He'll be heading off to collage in a few years." I told her thinking about all the events that will end up taking place in the next few years. "That's great. What about Darry? He's not overworking himself is he?" Gracie asked. "No he's not overworking himself." I informed. "Good. The rest of the gang staying outta trouble?" "All except dal but that's a given anyway." Gracie laughed. "I wish I could come and see them." Gracie said thinking aloud. "I do to." I replied. "I probably outta get going Gracie." I told her. "Alright sodapop. Same time tomorrow?" She asked. I nodded. "Same time tomorrow." Gracie squealed with happiness. "Your mom and dad said hi and they love you." Gracie told me before I could walked off. "Tell them that I love and miss them to." I said. "I will." Gracie said. "I love you Gracie." "I love you to soda." I grabbed the note that pony had written and handed it to Gracie. It slipped right through her fingers though. "What is it?" She asked. "A letter from Ponyboy. He said to bring it next time I visited." She nodded and smiled. I could have almost swore that I saw a tear run down her pale face. I took one last look at her as she picked up the note and started to read it. I started walking back to my house. I bawled like a baby the whole way home even though I'm gonna go see her tomorrow like I do every single day.
