I I ran out of the house crying with johnny right behind me making sure i didn't get hit again.  We ran all the way to the Curtis house. Our parents were drunk and fighting again. So guess who they took it out on. I knew I was gonna have a black eye and several bruises and so would Johnny. I ran into the house and right over to my boyfriend Dallas. "Somethin wrong doll?" Dal asked kissing my cheek.  Then he looked at my face and knew what was wrong. "They did it again didn't they?" He asked. I nodded my head yes. Pony had done walked into the living room and took off with Johnny on his heels. Dal had his jaw clenched like he was really mad. "Come on rose. I'm going to bucks wanna come?" Dal asked. "Yea." I told him. I told all the guys bye and followed Dallas out the door we were hand in hand. I love Dallas.  When dal and I first got together Johnny wasn't exactly the first one to jump on the bandwagon. I walked to bucks with dal and we were gonna stay downstairs and hang out but we decided to go upstairs and get some sleep. We were asleep for only about an hour when buck walked in saying how pony and Johnny were wanting to talk to him. Dal got up and went and I stayed in the room. They soon came back. Pony boy was soaked to the bone and Johnny looked like he had just seen a ghost. Johnny looked at me. Then went back to dal. Dal sat down on the bed beside me after throwing a shirt at pony so he could put on a dry  shirt. Pony put on the dry shirt which was a little big on him but not by much. "Ok here take this." Dal told them handing them some money and a heater. He handed pony the heater and Johnny the money. He then tapped me so I would give him a catch stick. He lit t then kept talking. "Take the 315 freight to windrixville. Get off there then go to the church on jay mountain. There's a pump in the back.  You'll have to get a week's supply of food as soon as you get there. Then get in that church and don't so much as stick your noses out the front door ya understand." Dal said. They both nodded.  Dal was gonna walk them out then come back. Johnny hugged me tight. Then followed dal out the door. Dal walked back into the room. He looked worried. "What's wrong babe?" I asked him. "Nothing doll just lay back down." Dal said laying back down next to me. I stayed the night at bucks with dal then went over to ponys house. On the walk over there the fuzz got dal and hauled him into the station. After the cops drove away I ran to ponys house. "What's wrong rose?" Darry asked. He should have been at work. I lit a catch stick to calm my nerves. "The cops hauled Dallas into the station." I told him. "What did he do this time?" Soda asked walking into the room. "Nothing I have been with him all night. He hasn't done anything." I said Darry was reading a newspaper. "I think I know why he got hauled in." Darry said. "What do you mean?" I asked.  "Well a Soc got killed last night look." Darry said. They were all upset. It was just something to keep their minds off the real problem. I looked at the page Darry was reading. I got a sick feeling in my stomach and I know I turned pale. "What?" Soda and Darry asked in sync. "Nothin." I said quickly. Two and Steve walked in. "Couldn't find either one of them and we looked everywhere." Two-bit said. "Rose you know where Johnny went?" Steve asked. "No I don't." I said. "Have you even looked for him?" Steve asked. "Truth be told no. I've been with dal and we had no clue. And he just got hauled into the station." I told them. Then a big argument broke out until after about an hour Dallas himself walked in the door.

Flashfoward to 5 days later

I was all excited for the rumble.  I was getting hyped up with the rest of the guys minus my brother and my boyfriend. We were all greased up and ready to go. Steve was excited and doing backflips.  Pony didn't look so good but he said he was fine. I brushed off the feeling in the back of my mind and was ready to beat some Soc. We ran out the door doing backflips across the lawn and down the street. We showed up a little early and talked to the shepherd gang. Angelia was there.  I talked to her while pony Darry and soda talked to tims gang. We were gonna gang up on some Socs together. Me and her always got along real good. She has been dating Johnny for a few months. I approved. Shoot I was the one who got them together to begin with. We were still talking when the Socs pulled up. They looked like they were going to Sunday meeting not a rumble. We all lined up. Then after Darry and some hotheaded Soc Paul circled and then the fight started. Angelia and I were kicking butt when out of nowhere Dallas came running and started fighting with us. After we won the rumble dal dragged pony off somewhere.  We were all to busy celebrating to notice we knew he was safe though. Me and the guys went back to the Curtis house to patch ourselves up. Then pony walked in. He was bleeding battered and bruised and he looked really upset. "What's wrong?" Darry asked. "It's Johnny. He's dead. Dal couldn't take it he's gonna blow!!" Pony said. We all gritted our teeth to keep ourselves from crying. Johnny was the only thing that kept us sane. Man that was my brother. He has always been there and I didn't even get to say goodbye. "Dals got a breaking point? I guess he actually is human." I heard two-bit mutter from behind me.  Dal may be but I'm not. Then the phone rang. Darry answered it. "It was dal. The cops are after him we gotta hide him!" Darry said after he hung up. We all ran out of the house and to the park where Darry said Dallas would be. I ran faster than the rest of the guys. I got to the park as Dallas was running in. I ran right over to him the cop cars were driving into the park and fast dal had a heater held up at the fuzz. I took the gun and held it towards the cops.  I knew they would shoot me. I gave dal one last kiss as I heard the bullets fill the air and felt the pain in my side. I collapsed in dals arms with enough breath for a few words. "I love you. Johnny I'm comin." I said before drawing my last breath. I felt a single tear hit my cheek then it was all gone. Everything went black and that was the end of Rosalie Leann Cade.
