Best friends stick together till the end, They are like a straight line that will not bend.

I realised there was something I hated more than Hunter Evans right now, and that was walking home from school. In the rain. Somehow, the sky had opened up in my last period and it was pouring.

My clothes were soaked and I was shivering. I had run most of the way home and I was seriously out of breath. Need to work on my cardio

It didn't help that every car that zoomed by soaked me with puddle water. My dark red hair was soaked, I felt it dripping down my partially dry back. I flinched as yet another puddle of water was dumped on me. At this point, I didn't even bother cursing the driver.

My mother couldn't pick me up, she was work. My father couldn't pick me up because he was currently in New York for a work function and well as you know, I didn't have any friends.

So I was stuck walking two miles from school. That was before...

"Jamie" a voice brought me out of my thoughts.

I turned my head to see Hunter cruising beside me in his Audi. He was leaning over the center console to peer at me through the window. I ignored him. I kept walking. "For gods sake Jamie, stop being stubborn and get in the car" he yelled over the sound of a car passing.

"No" I snapped.

"Look, I'm just going to drive you home, you can hate me all you want after that" he said, flicking his hand back to the steering wheel.
I stopped walking. "How about I hate you now and continued walking?" I asked, angrily.

I continued walking. "So do you have any idea what this essay is about?" His voice asked.

I jumped out of my skin. I turned around and he was standing behind me. He was stowing his car keys in his pocket as he advanced towards me. I took a few steps back but he grabbed my wrist pulling me to the car. "Let go!" I yelled.

He didn't listen. Another car passed and a huge splash smashed me in the face. Somehow it missed him. He turned his head to look at me. "Alright fine!" I gave in.

He let go of me and walked around to his drivers side. I didn't care how wet I was when I climbed into his nice new Audi. He grimaced when my wet clothes squelched against his leather seats. He started driving.
I stared out the window. "Don't think this means anything, you can still go to hell" I said, making myself clear.

"Absolutely, I planned to go there all along, according to sources, its supposed to be hot year round" he replied, sarcastically.

I narrowed my eyes and turned my head to face him. "You don't get to make jokes either, in fact it's easier for both of us if you just pretend I don't exist" I snipped back.

He winced. "Okay, I deserved that one" he replied.

"You deserve all of them Mr popularity" I replied.

He moved his hand to turn on the heater, meeting my eyes for a second. "Look its not what you think, what I said to you, it was uncalled for but I was angry" he said.

"And that gives you a right to snap at me? The best friend you had since you moved next door?" I asked.

I threw my hand up to stop whatever he was about to say. "But you know what, I don't care, what's done is done, apparently the friendship was one sided" I said.

"Jamie.." He said exasperated.

We were pulling into our street. "You can let me out here, wouldn't want your parents to think we're becoming friends again, might ruin your reputation" I said.
