  And I wonder if from time to time
The thought of me might cross his mind..

"I hope you don't mind the fact that my brother will be home" Eleanor said, tipping her head towards me. 

It was lunch time and normally I sat alone, but this time Eleanor was sitting with me. People were staring at our table. I couldn't help but feel like everyone was mad at me for disrupting the status quo. I shook my head. "No, it's all cool" I replied. 

Eleanor's eyes sparkled. "All of my other friends would be saying things like "Is your brother going to be there?" "Will he hang out with us" but with you , you're  totally chill about it" she said smiling. 

I couldn't help but smile back. Eleanor had this air about her that made you immediately like her. "Well it's your house and two William's cool" I replied, shrugging. 

"Aww thanks Jamie, I think I love you now" a male voice said from behind me. 

A hand touched my shoulder as William climbed into the seat next to me. I turned my head to see him brush hair out of his eyes, he shot me a wink. I rolled my eyes. Eleanor giggled. "Why are you sitting here? Shouldn't you be babysitting your buddies?" Eleanor asked, looking around for the group. 

"Why, when I can be here? Enjoying the company of my new friend Jamie" he replied, sending Eleanor a quizzical glance. 

"She's my new friend" she bit back. 

I turned my head each time one of them spoke. I couldn't help but laugh at their bickering. It was so Brother and Sister like. I snorted when Eleanor threw her plastic fork at him. They both stopped and looked at me in surprise. 

I tired to hold back my laughter but the moment Eleanor started laughing, I burst out laughing too. William joined in. I don't know how long we were laughing but it felt like forever. Until,

"Jamie" Hunter's voice said. 

Let's just say I sobered up pretty quickly. 

"What?" I asked. 

Eleanor giggled. I shot her a grin which made her giggle more. "W'sup Hunter" William said, bumping fists with Hunter. 

He turned to me. "We have an essay to write" Hunter said, looking over Eleanor before looking back at me. 

"Uh yeah I know, we do it outside of school hours" I replied. 

"Oh that reminds me, we can't do it this afternoon, I'm going over Eleanor's house" I said, quickly.

Something flashed across Hunter's face. "Shouldn't you be doing the essay, what about the marks?" Hunter asked. 

"We still have 12 more days Hunter.. and I think we can get a 2000 word essay done by then" I replied. 

 "Fine" Hunter said, walking away. 

Eleanor giggled. "That was intense" she said. 

I leaned back in my chair. "Yeah we have a bit of history" I replied, looking down at my food.

"What? Did you sleep with him?" Eleanor asked.

I felt William stiffen beside me. "No, we live next door to each other, we were best friends growing up but when he started high school, he said I was too lame to hang around" I explained.

Eleanor frowned. "I don't think your lame" she said. 

I smiled sadly at her. "Thanks" I replied. 

William put an arm around me and I stiffened. "I don't think you're lame either, most girls in this school are bitches example Kelsey, but you're down to earth, I like it" he said, smiling. 

I looked up at him. I could see why every girl wanted to be his girl. He was sweet and charming. Definitely someone I could get used to having as a friend. His arm left my shoulders and all the warmth left my body. "I'm going to class girls, Jamie, you're riding home with us right?" he asked, gathering his bag. 

I nodded. "See you after school than" he said, winking and standing up. 

He walked away. I turned to his sister who was watching him curiously. "I think he likes you" she said smiling. 

"What gave it away, the part where he says I'm not lame or the part where you two were fighting over me?" I asked, standing up also. 

"No silly.. I mean I think he likes you" she said, dropping one eye into a wink. 

I frowned. She rolled her eyes. "I think he's developed a little crush" she said. 

My mouth opened in shock. "Me? god no, I'm lame" I said. 

Eleanor just raised an eyebrow and joined me in walking. "Well I know my brother and I know he doesn't act like that around anyone!" she exclaimed. 

I thought about it. Would someone even remotely like me? I mean I wasn't pretty but I wasn't exactly not pretty. I was average. Long dark red hair, blue eyes and a sharp but soft face. I didn't have a model body but I took care of myself and I had long slender legs. I wore converses not heels and ripped jeans not dresses. I had three piercings in my ears but that was it. Average. 

Eleanor was still talking when I zoned in. "If you two got married, I'd be your sister in law! Oh My God! That would be so fun!" she exclaimed. 

"Whoa" I said, throwing my hand out to her arm. 

"I know I know, I get overboard but you'd two would be so cute, I ship it already" she said, grinning like a madman. 

"William does not like me, maybe as a friend but that's as far as it goes, besides I'm not his type" I said as we walked into the classroom. 

Eleanor grinned at me. "Don't be so sure" she whispered as she walked down the back. 

I slumped into my usual seat as Hunter waltzed in. He saw me and dropped into the seat next to me. "Did you bring the USB?" he asked. 

I looked over at him. "Stop being so pushy" I replied, bending down to retrieve it from my bag. 

"Well sorry miss let's just get this done so I can go back to hating Hunter for no reason" he replied. 

I slammed the USB on the desk. "Is that why you always just want to get it done?" I asked. 

"No, it's not" he snapped back. 

"Oh yeah what's your reason?" I asked. 

"It's not like you enjoy spending time with the ex best friend you ditched" I retorted. 

"I didn't ditch you, I couldn't stand to be around you!" he exclaimed. 

I froze. Tears sprung to my eyes. "Guess we know the truth huh" I replied, pushing the USB over to him. 

"You're on your own" I said, standing up. 

He didn't say anything, he just faced the front as if he hadn't just said what he had said. I stalked out of the room, bumping into the teacher. "Miss Jamie, where are you going?" Mr Alex asked. 

"I'm not coming back to this class until I get a decent partner" I replied, stalking down the hallway, wiping at my eyes.

A/N

This one is a little shorter, but now our little Jamie is upset.
