Promises

"Okay, two questions, what are you wearing and why are you wearing it?" Eleanor asked, raising the glass of water to her lips.

She took a long drink.

"Well Hunter's out of the hospital and he wanted to take me out for dinner" I said.

"So what do you think?" I asked, twirling around.

"It looks awful" Ellie said.

I scowled at her. "Oh come on! A pink dress? Honey, I thought I taught you better than that" Eleanor replied and standing up.

She placed the glass of water on my study desk before walking over to my cupboard and searching through it. "I think we need to go shopping before I leave" she said after shaking her head at another piece of clothing.

"Please don't remind me" I said sadly.

Eleanor pouted. "We'll hang out whenever we can" she promised.

She pulled out a white dress, it seemed to criss cross at the front. I didn't even know I had a dress like that. "You have to go out in this" Eleanor said.

"Uh no" I replied going to take it from her.

She dodged out of the way. "Please, omg you'll have Hunter on his knees!" She squealed.

"No! Besides he just got out of hospital for bruised ribs, it'll be painful to bend" I replied.

Eleanor rolled her eyes. "You're wearing it!" She ordered.

"No!" I yelled back.

"Yes!" She yelled back.

I scowled and launched at her. She laughed and dodged out of the way. "You will wear it!" She kept chanting.

"Ugh fine!" I yelled.

She grinned. "I knew you'd give in, change right now" she said, shoving the dress in my hands.

I made way to the bathroom but she stopped me. "Nope! In front of me! I don't want you hiding that dress" she exclaimed.

I sighed and took off my shirt. I wasn't body conscious like most girls were. I had grown to love my body and Eleanor was my best friend so I didn't mind changing in front of her.

I pulled the dress on and straightened. Eleanor's jaw dropped.
It hugged all the right curves, molding to my body and softening my look.
"Better?" I asked.

She nodded. She reached over and undid my hair, letting it fall in waves across my shoulders. Without a word, she strode to my cupboard and started sifting through shoes.

She gave a satisfied noise and appeared with black heels in her hand. I took them and slipped them on. I stood up and felt higher.

Eleanor looked like she was going to cry. "Seriously?" I asked her.

She waved me away. "Shut up, I'm just remembering my beautiful best friend before I leave" she said before wiping her eyes.

I hugged her, pulling her close to my chest. She wrapped her arms around me. "We'll see each other every weekend, we can still do sleepovers" I said.

She pulled away and nodded. "I know, but school just won't be the same" she said, smiling sadly.

My phone buzzed.
