When I have you,
I'm going to brand you with my lips,
And all the world will know that you're mine now.Only a couple of chapters left 😔
We dropped Eleanor at her house and William had followed behind us with his car.
I waved to them as William hauled his sister inside, probably going to explain why she's so wasted to their parents.
Hunter looked at their house before sighing."What's wrong?" I asked, looking at him.
"Nothing" he replied.
I narrowed my eyes at him. Hunter sighed again before moving to pull the car into reverse.
I stopped him. "Tell me" I said gently."I was just remembering when William and I were friends" he said, staring back at the house.
Reaching out, I brought his hand over to my lap, coaxing him on."It was the thing with Piper that pushed us apart, I had trusted him and he broke it" he said.
He took a deep breath. "Hunter, its okay" I said.
"For too many years, I've lost my friends, first it was you and than I lost Will, I tried to cover my brokenness with lies and deceit" he said.
"I lied to myself, I tried to be someone I wasn't, I lost what I loved most because of it" he added, looking down.
"Jamie, I just wanted to fit in and all I did was push you away, I will never ever let you down again" he said, gripping my hand tightly.
He turned his head to look at me. The lamppost on the Stanley's driveway, lit up half of Hunter's face in a orange glow. I studied his face as he looked at me.
He was sad. The lines around his mouth showed as he pulled his quivering bottom lip into his mouth. His eyes were dull and more brown than green.
His blonde hair had been raked back quickly but it was falling in his face, he didn't seem to care.
As I finally looked at him, I could still see my best friend. All that had changed was his age.
I smiled gently. "I know you won't" I said.He reached over and grabbed my other hand running his fingers across my soft skin. He took a shuddering breath, releasing his lip.
He fanned his hand on top of mine before tracing my veins. "I meant what I said, when I said I love you" he said bringing his eyes up to lock with mine.
"I know some people just throw it around like its nothing, but you are not nothing to me" he said.
I bit the inside of my cheek as he continued. "I never knew how much a needed you Jamie Lance, I didn't know how much of a mark you left on me" he said, our eyes still connected.
My heart was thumping but we weren't done. There was something else that needed to be said. "It's not all your fault Hunter" I said, dipping my head.
"I gave up on you and I shouldn't have, that's not best friends do" I said.
His eyes went wide but he stayed quiet. "Truth is, when I realized you weren't going to wave back in the hallways, it crushed me, but I gave up, I should have fought for our friendship" I said strongly.
"Me too" he muttered.
I opened my hand, letting his fingers fall through and I grasped them tightly. "But I will fight now" I said.
Hunter looked back up. "So I ask for your forgiveness for the past" I said, gazing at him.
He seemed to sob. "Only if you'll forgive me" he said, sobbing.
