"Did you see what happened at the dance with Kelsey?"

"Are they a couple now?"

"How could she get a guy like that?"

The whispers surrounded us as we walked hand in hand through the corridors. "Jesus, isn't there something else they can talk about?" Hunter asked, glancing at another group of students that stared at us.

"No, clearly not" I replied, glancing at them as well.

They stared at us like we were animals locked up in the zoo. Now I knew what they went through. My hand tightened on Hunter's when Kelsey turned the corner before stopping and staring at us.

Hunter followed my gaze before pulling me to a stop.

Kelsey lowered her eyes before walking past us with no hassle. I glanced at Hunter and he was frowning.

"Come on, we're meeting Eleanor and William" I said, tugging Hunter's hand.

He let go of my hand. "I know you two aren't good friends but I think we should check on her" Hunter said.

I bit my lip, turning around to watch her retreating back. "Okay" I said.

We followed her. "Kelsey!" Hunter yelled out.

She froze and turned around before widening her eyes. "Come to bully me too?" She snapped.

"No, we wanted to know if you were okay" I said, standing in front of her.

"Why, its not like you care" she snapped again.

"Kelsey, you have a bruise on the side of your face, has your mother been hitting you again?" Hunter asked.

Kelsey flinched. "She was angry I didn't win Queen" she replied, her voice wobbled.

I immediately felt for her. "I'm so sorry" I said reaching out to touch her.

She jerked back. "What would you know, little miss prissy" she said.

I bit my lip. "I've been hit and hurt plenty of times by my father, I've even been thrown into a wall by him" I said, keeping my voice calm.

Hunter turned his head to look at me. Kelsey lowered her eyes. "I know exactly what you are feeling Kelsey" I said.

She sniffled. "Everyone hates me" she said.

I sighed inwardly. "We graduate tomorrow Kels, you won't even see them after that" I said.

She nodded and wiped at her eyes. "You're right" she said.

I held my hand out and she shook it. I gave her a small sad smile as she walked away. "That was very mature" Hunter said.

"Are you saying I'm not mature?" I asked, smiling and looking up at him.

"You said it, not me" he replied.

I gasped and elbowed him in the ribs. He just gave me a crooked smile.

"Come on, if we're any later Eleanor will probably become a ninja just to kick our ass" Hunter said.

I pointed at him as we walked back the way we'd came. "I'd say the Stanley siblings are growing on you" I said, joking.

"Eleanor's okay, scary and I'm likely to die if I ever look at another girl in her presence but William.. I'm working on it" he said shrugging.

"I hope you never look at another girl while you're in a relationship with me, because I'll give Eleanor permission to kill you" I humphed.
