“Are you sure you guys don’t want to rent a nice little cabin, with running water and comfortable beds?” Rachel  had been trying for the greater part of two hours to get Maria and Michael to change their minds about this camping trip. She knew it was all in vain, however, because at that this very moment, Maria and Michael were putting up the tents.

“rach, get over it already. Seriously, you are giving me a fucking headache. At least let me eat before you start bitching again.” Michael bit out. He wasn’t too happy about the situation, had he known that rachel would be this uptight about sleeping outside, he would have rented her an entire hotel suite. Having one woman in his life that complained about everything was enough; he sure as hell wasn’t looking for another.

“Bitching? I’m sorry if being at one with nature is not my forte. I happen to enjoy the indoors. Which I guess Michael, would be the reason why I am an Interior Designer!” Rachel  yelled, fisting her hands at her sides. This was just too much. She hated, no, despised the outdoors.

“Oh come on Rach, it’ll be fun!” Maria said trying to stave off an argument that would surely begin if Rachel didn’t calm down. Michael was usually very lenient when it came to Rachel and her small fits, but not when he was hungry. Everyone knows you don’t mess with a man that hasn’t eaten.

“Fun? Ha! You have got to be kidding me. I have to sleep on the ground, with bugs and other miscellaneous creatures that crawl all over your body while you sleep. Oh! And please let’s not forget the wonderful bears that just roam around waiting for fresh meat!” rachel knew she was beginning to sound a bit irrational, but she’d rather sit in a room with her worst enemy than to sleep outside. Despite all of this, she knew it was a losing battle and she was getting tired of fighting. She huffed and took a seat on the log by the fire pit beside Michael, and watched him start a fire so they could eat and keep warm.

Maria watched Rachel from the corner of her eye, she was beginning to wonder if her and Isabel’s plan was a good one. If Rachel was this pissed off about sleeping outside, how would she react when…

“Maria!” Oh damn! Maria knew this would come up eventually, she just hoped it was much later in the evening.

“Yes, Rachel?” Maria tried to act as innocent as possible, but she knew that Rach was onto her.

“Don’t, yes rachel me! Michael just informed me that if I have to use the bathroom I have to use a tree or some crazy shit like that?!” rachel stood in front of her best friend, trying hard to bite back the tears; she refused to use a tree as a toilet, she was not a dog. It was not going to happen, or so she believed.

“That is not what I said, rachel.” Michael came to stand behind rachel, knowing that he shouldn’t test her at that moment, but decided Maria would yell at him later for something that wasn’t his fault, so he should get his kicks where he could.

“Oh really? Please enlighten us then?” rachel turned around and crossed her arms over her chest; she was going to get Michael back for this.

“Thank you I will,” Michael said smugly. He was going to love this one, her reaction the first time was classic, he wouldn’t mind reliving it once again. “Ahem,” He started. “rachel asked where the bathrooms were. So I simply pulled out a roll of toilet paper and threw it at her. Once she caught it and looked at me like I had three heads, I told her to pick a tree.” rachel was fuming at this point. Maria on the other hand was trying as hard as she could to not burst out laughing.

“Rachel, don’t be a cry baby, just find a tree and squat.” Maria tried to say as casually as possible, but Rachel simply squinted her eyes and stomped off into the woods. As soon as Rachel walked away Maria and Michael doubled over in laughter.

“Assholes!” Rachel said as she found a place to do her business, she wasn’t happy but she really had to go. She closed her eyes and wished that she had taken her rental car with her, so she could get as far away from nature as possible.
