“What do you mean, she’s going out on a date? What the hell did you tell her, Maria?” Isabel had just gotten home from shopping, she placed her bags down and that’s when her cell phone went off.
“I didn’t tell her anything! I simply asked if she and Finn were getting back together since they kissed again.” Kissed? Isabel was not aware of this breaking news.
“Really when? I mean why wouldn’t he tell me, actually don’t answer that. I know why he wouldn’t tell me but…”
“Isabel, could you focus on the problem here?” Maria let out a long sigh and waited for Isabel to stop her rant.
“Oh right! Date. Who is this guy? And what is it that she wants you to do again?” Isabel laid back against the couch, this was going to be a long day.
“I don’t know. Some guy she works with, whom she says is hot! This is serious! She wants me to call her at about eight to talk to the guy, so that I’d know she wasn’t lying. What should we do?” Isabel already had a plan forming in her head. She would light a fire under her brother’s ass if it were the last thing she did.
“Don’t worry I’ll handle it. I’ll call you back.” Isabel snapped the phone shut and decided before she made her phone call she needed to put her groceries away.
“Damn Finn, I thought you were smart. Were you just pretending to sound cool and shit?” Finn wanted to pounce on Drew, but he knew he was right. Finn was explaining what happened in Atlanta the week before.
“I know, man. This shit with Rachel just gets worse by the minute. I don’t know what the fuck to do to fix it either.” Finn continued to mindlessly flip through the television stations. He was trying to get a plan together, a plan of attack. He need to get Rachel back but everyway he’d thought of so far wasn’t good enough. He had to be spontaneous. He had to make it count because it would be his final shot with her and he knew it.
“Listen, you gave me some great advice throughout the years. Alex and I are doing great now. She understands what I need from her, but most importantly I understand what she needs from me,” Drew leaned back further into the couch. He had to get Finn to figure this thing out with Rachel. God knew that they were perfect together, but Rachel was stubborn and Finn hadn’t exaggerated about that.
“I wish I had some great advice for myself,” Finn sighed. Then he watched Drew snatch the remote from his hand and turn the television off. And then in true Drew fashion, he pulled Finn to his feet, handing him one crutch to lean on and began circling him like a criminal facing the toughest interrogation of their lives.
“Stop being a pussy! Get your shit together and make her listen to you. You have to put one hundred and ten percent into this or it will never work. You aren’t trying to convince her to give you another chance. You’re trying to make her realize that deep down she wants to give you another chance,” Drew had just given him the exact same speech Finn had given him not too long ago. It saved his relationship with Alex and that’s why he was as happy as he’d ever been in his entire life. Finn was his best friend and he needed him. But Drew had a feeling that, that speech was not going to work for Finn. He needed to approach it a little differently or rather a little unorthodox. Which just happened to be his style.
Finn tried to stifle the laugh treating to break free. He had to give Drew serious points for using that speech. Hell, Finn was surprised that he’d even remembered it, but it didn’t help. He knew Drew though; he would take his own path to get at what he was trying to say.
“It’s your final shot. It’s the last quarter and the fucking score is tied! There are five seconds on the clock. You can feel the pressure begin to creep up your spine. You have to choose the perfect position, otherwise the game is shot and it’d be all your fault. Finally you find that perfect spot on the court and you release the ball. Silence. The crowd watches and they wait. You closed your eyes because you couldn’t watch it all go to hell. And then! Nothing but net baby! That’s what you need, Finn.” Drew was done with his pep talk and was damn proud of himself. At first Finn thought Drew had finally lost his mind, but somewhere between the clock and net Finn figured out exactly what he needed to do.
“Shit! You’re so fucking right, man! Damn I should have come up with that! Thanks.” Finn punched Drew in the arm. “No problem, someone had to knock some sense into that thick fucking skull of yours.” Drew retorted sarcastically, which earned him a harder hit.
“Hey! Watch the bod!” Finn shook his head before telling Drew he’d see him later, he had plans to make.
Finn arrived home and he was filled with a great clarity. Things were going to work out. As soon as he made it to his living room, he tried to adjust his crutches so he could take a seat in the living room. As soon as he was adjusted comfortably his cell phone rang.
“Hey Is,”
“Hi Finn. What are you up to?” Isabel asked trying to sound indifferent.
“I just got home and I was about to make some plans, why?” Finn's brows furrowed in suspicion. There was something going on, he just knew it.
“Oh. I just wondered. Hey, have you talked to Rachel?” Isabel figured the fast way to the finish line was the most direct route.
“No, why? Have you?” Now he knew something was up.
“No. I just figured you’d call her or something.”
“Isabel, just tell me what’s going on. I’m so tired and I just have so much to get done today.” Finn leaned his head back, he wasn’t sure he wanted an answer to his question.
“Rachelisgoingoutonadatetonight.” Isabel mumbled out quickly. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea, she thought.
“What?! Fuck! Are you serious?” Finn jumped from the couch, hobbling around his living room on one leg. This was not happening, not now!
“Yes, Maria called me and told me. Rachel said it herself and to prove it Rachel told Maria to call her at eight to speak to the guy.”
“Oh fuck that! You are going to have Maria call me first and then we’re going to call Rachel on a three way.” Finn wasn’t going to let some guy just take her away from him. Not when he was trying to win her back.
“Finn, I can’t do that! Don’t ask me too. Look, this was a bad idea. I shouldn’t have called you. I didn’t call to upset you,” Isabel rushed out but Finn wasn’t having any of it and she knew it.
“Upset? Well what the fuck did you think I would do when you told me Rachel was going out on a date?! You wanted to call me and start shit. Well, you got it. Now tell Maria to call me at ten to eight.” Finn hung up the phone purposefully. He’d have to speed up his plans now.
“Forever fades away, my ass!” Finn reached for his crutches and made his way upstairs, it was going to be a long day.
So what do you think Finn Is gonna do now that he knows Rachel is going on a date, if Maria does call Finn first to do the Threeway phone call do you think Finn will hear something he doesn't like and ruin everything or will he stay quiet?
