“Finn! Good you see you, man.” Drew arrived at the airport to pick up Finn and Rachel. He had insisted that he do it, because he wanted to greet the happy couple.
“You too, man.”
“Oh and there is my favorite girl,” Drew announced as he lifted Rachel in his arms and gave her a kiss on the cheek before planting her back onto her feet.
“Really? And what would Alex have to say about that?” Rachel joked with him. She loved being around Drew, he was just so full of energy and always had a come back for everything.
“Please, she knows she’s my girl, but you my dear are my side dish,” he winked and watched as his best friend practically swooped Rachel off her feet.
“Stop trying to be a cock blocker,” Finn retorted jokingly as he pulled Rachel to his side and they exited the airport.
“Cock blocker?” Rachel was confused, what did he mean by that?
“Rachel, it’s just a long standing joke. We try and get each other riled up enough and then…”
“Hey! Don’t be jealous cause I’m better looking than you,” Drew jogged up behind them and Rachel couldn’t help but giggle at their childish banter.
“Dude, you wish you looked better than me! Shit, tell him Rachel.” Finn crossed his arms and looked down at her. Rachel tried to act as serious as possible, but was failing. She was standing between two very tall, very built men but her heart only belonged to one of them. Now, she couldn’t deny how good-looking Drew was, with his green eyes and sandy brown hair, but Finn was perfect. With his almost amber colored eyes, perfect lips, chiseled body, a voice that was a smooth silk and a look that would melt her heart on the spot.
“Sorry, Drew but Finn is my kind of man,” Rachel smiled sweetly at Drew as Finn pulled her into his arms and kissed her hard.
“That’s my girl,” Finn smiled into her lips.
“Traitor,” Drew mumbled out before reaching opening the trunk of the car.
“I hope I didn’t rough up your ego too much,” Rachel quipped lightly once they were inside the car.
“Please! Me?” Drew just laughed it off.
“Finn, I hope you have food in your house, cause I’m starving,” Drew called out over the song playing on the radio.
“I probably don’t. Besides, I can’t remember the last time I even bought food,” Finn muddled over his words. It was true. He didn’t go to the grocery store. His maid did, so how the hell should he know. He wondered if Rachel would want a maid and a cook? Or would she want to do it for them? Either way he couldn’t care less, he just wanted her to be happy.
“Finn, you are going to have to start learning to grocery shop, and wash clothes and,”
“Whoa! Wait a minute, why the hell do I need to learn?” Finn spun around in his seat to face Rachel.
“Well I hope you don’t think I’m doing it all. Cause if you do, then you’ve got one hell of a wake up call coming to you,” Rachel shook her head and crossed her arms over her chest. Surely he didn’t think she was going to be busting her ass doing everything?
“Baby, that’s why I hire people to do things like that,” Finn answered nonchalantly.
“Hire people? Finn I don’t want a bunch of strangers in our house. I’ll teach you, surely you haven’t forgotten how to cook have you?” Rachel asked and saw the smirk on Drew’s face in the rear-view mirror. Obviously, he did.
“Rach, I just didn’t have time. But now that I won’t be playing then…” Finn's words were halted when Drew’s car came to a screeching halt.
“Jesus! I love Finn but I don’t want to share the front seat with him and the windshield!” Rachel screeched out nervously.
“Sorry…I’m sorry. I didn’t…”
“Fuck Drew! Rach, are you okay?” Finn turned in his seat to check on her.
“I’m fine…it’s okay. But what’s wrong?” They both turned worried eyes to Drew, who was completely silent and completely still.
“W-what did you just say?” Drew asked trying to regain control of himself. He must have heard wrong.
“Who?” They both asked simultaneously.
Drew turned his head slowly looking at his best friend, trying to search his face for the truth. It couldn’t be true.
“I said that, I’ll have time to learn to cook since I won’t be playing,” Finn finally realized why Drew was reacting the way he was. He hadn’t told him of his plans yet.
“I’m sorry, man. I should have told you,” Finn started apologetically. Rachel however, just sat and watched from the backseat both of their reactions.
“So, you’re going to quit? Give it all up?” Drew asked confusingly. Finn simply shrugged and said, “I don’t look at it as giving up. All I ever wanted was to be with Rachel, and now that I am, everything else seems so superficial. It’s what I want and I hope you’re happy for me,” Finn finished flatly. Yes, he did still love the game, but not more than Rachel. He would never make the same mistake twice.
“But…we’re going to the championships this year,” Drew started but Finn cut him off.
“You don’t know that for sure and…”
“Bullshit! We worked our asses off and you know we are in. I just, I didn’t think you would leave.” Drew wasn’t an emotional type of guy, but Finn was the heart of the team and losing him was going to be devastating.
Rachel watched closely the emotions that crossed both men’s faces. She knew that what she had been thinking about last night was the best decision for everyone involved. Now she just needed to get Finn to see it her way.
