Protection

As we pulled up to my house, there was silence between Nolan and myself. He turned his truck off and sighed.

"There is somebody waiting here for you." he paused then continued. "I have to go meet Xander and we'll bring your car back soon. " I nodded and got out of his truck. We waved goodbye and he sped off.

I approached my door and before I could unlock it the doors swung open. It was Sky, Martika, and Zedd. They smiled at me then hugged me all at once. We all walked inside and sat on the couch. "Are you feeling okay?" Zedd asked me poking my side. "Yeah, I'm feeling okay." he nudged my arm and smiled, "We're here for you. We've already spoken to your teachers. We'll be sending your work everyday." I looked at Sky and Martika. "I'm okay to go to school. I just had a rough day. I should be back in a day or two."

Sky finally spoke up. "Rox, you don't have to. If you can't be around Jacob then it's best if you stay here. You won't be alone."

I never answered her, instead I asked Martika, "When will Xander be here? We have a date tonight." Her eyes lit up. "So you guys are finally going out?"

"No no no no.. it's just a date."

Just a date.

I wanted more than that. I wanted Xander with me, always. I wanted him to be mine.

Cat and Sky both smiled at me. "We have to get you ready!" they both squealed and Zedd rolled his eyes. "Girls." Cat slapped the back of his head and they ran upstairs. I looked over at him and smiled "Don't pretend you don't love us." he playfully punched my arm. "I have to love you guys." With that I got up and walked upstairs to see Sky and Marti going crazy.

"She has to wear this!"

"No, no. She's wearing this! It compliments her figure and it's just too cute! " I flopped on my bed with my cat, Lilac. She crawled to me and began purring.

"It has to go with blonde hair and blue eyes! " Cat yelled. I couldn't do anything but laugh at them. They were the true definition of girls.

I finally sat up and looked at them. "Light purple dress, black heels. " They both stared at me. "OH GOD. That is adorable!" "why didn't we think of this?!"

They placed my clothes on the bed and walked out. I sighed and stood up. As I was reaching for the dress, my phone started ringing. It was Xander.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Rox."

"Xander, Hi." I smiled. "What's up?"

"Did you want to cancel our plans for toni-"

I cut him off, "No! of course not. I uh.. Cat and Sky just picked out my clothes." I chuckled.

"I have a feeling they'll be at my house doing the same for me." he laughed.

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure they will."

"Roxy?"

"Yeah? "

"I'm excited about tonight."

I smiled and sighed "Me too, now goodbye Xander. " I hung up the phone and walked out my room. Just as we said, the girls were getting their things together and going to Xander's house.

I walked down the stairs and Zedd was watching TV. "Zedd? " he jerked his head to look at me. "Oh, sorry, did you want me to leave? They were going to bombard Xander. " He laughed. "No, you're fine. I just thought you went with them. Anyway. I'm going to shower up and get ready. Make yourself at home. " he smiled and nodded.

I ran back upstairs and took a long cold shower. I wrapped the towel around myself and went to my room. It was 4:07. I dried my hair and curled it. I slid the dress and my shoes on and looked in the mirror. I smiled. I put on a bit of eyeliner and mascara. I thought I looked okay. I was hoping Xander would think so too.

I grabbed my cellphone and checked. 4:59. I headed downstairs. Xander was already waiting. The butterflies in my stomach began going crazy. My hands were shaking as I whispered his name.

"Xander?" He turned around and I watched his eyes widen. I noticed everybody was here. Their eyes did the same.

I didn't like this attention.
