After fifteen minutes the girls finally came in. They all smiled.
"Let's get ready!" Sky squealed. we all laughed and started straightening and curling our hair. I decided to just straighten my hair and wear it down. I noticed my hair had grown a lot. It was down to my bellybutton. I smiled and started putting on my makeup. after about an hour, we were finally ready. Tank texted me and told me they were waiting at the door.
We all took a deep breath and walked out my room. We walked downstairs and a smile spread across their faces. Xander grabbed me and kissed me. "You look incredible." I felt my cheeks turn red.
"Do you like the dress?"
"I love it. It looks beautiful on you." I smiled and everybody else was hugging and kissing the ones they love. As we were heading outside, somebody pulled in the yard. it was Jacob.
"Roxy, Dixie. it's your grandmother. She died." I was frozen.
"No.. she isn't dead. I just talked to her yesterday!" Dixie yelled between sobs. I ran over to her and hugged her tight. "We have to go to her baby. Come on." I pulled her. Trae and Xander followed. I tried so hard to fight back the tears. I couldn't breathe. I stopped in my tracks and started screaming. "No. No! she isn't dead!"
I walked over to Jacob and pushed him. "You're a fucking liar!" he hugged me. I tried fighting him but he wouldn't let go. I finally gave up and started crying. "Why, why couldn't it of been me.." he kissed my head. "No, it shouldn't of been you, Roxy." I pulled away and looked at Xander. He was sitting on the ground with his face in his hands.
"Let me talk to him.." Jacob nodded and I walked over to him. He stood up and pulled me into a tight hug. I started crying again, but harder this time.
"Xander.. we have to go to the hospital." he nodded and motioned for Trae to bring Dixie.
"You guys can go on your dates. We'll see you at some point." I said holding back my tears. Xander pulled me to the car before they could say anything. We sped off to the hospital.
"Um, we're the granddaughters of Juliana Smith." the nurse nodded and brought us to the room she was in. We walked into the room and slowly made our way to the bed.
I held her hand. It was so cold. I felt tears fall from my eyes. "I'm so sorry we weren't there granny...I'm so sorry I wasn't the granddaughter you deserved. I should of stayed by your side.." I trailed off. Xander stood beside me and wrapped his arm around my waist. "Roxy, you were an amazing granddaughter to her. She loved you very much."
"Roxanne and Dixie Michaels?" the nurse came in.
"Yeah, that's us." I whispered softly.
"Your grandmother left this envelope for you girls." I looked at her. she handed us the envelope. "I'll leave you girls alone to handle it." we gave her a quick smile.
"Did she say anything to you about it, Dix?"
"No, I didn't know she was leaving us anything." I opened it and read it out loud.
Roxy and Dixie,
If you're reading this, then I'm gone. But I wanted to let you two know that I love you more than anything. You two are such beautiful girls and I'm proud to call you my granddaughters. I've watched you grow from little tiny kids to the wonderful adults you are now. P.S Roxy, you better get that Xander boy before it's too late. He really likes you. Anyways, there's a key in the envelope. It opens a safety deposit box. This is where it gets kind of complicated; In that safety deposit box, there is two more keys and another envelope. One is labeled Dixie, the other is labeled Roxy. They both contain a fairly large amount of money. I left my savings to you. Also there is a ring in each box. They were my wedding and engagement rings. They belong to you now. In the envelope, there is a key to my summer home in Paris. Go whenever you feel like it. It's funny, I'm spoiling you two even when I'm not around! I love you girls so much. Stay beautiful. and make sure you give me some grandkids!
Love, Granny Juliana.
We were both in shock.
"woah.." Xander and Trae said together.
Me and Dixie smiled at each other. We thanked our grandmother and went to find the nurse.
"One more thing, ladies." she asked that there be no funeral. She would like to be cremated, mixed with her husband's ashes and split between you two. We agreed and signed some papers. "That's all for now, we'll call you tomorrow.
"Yes ma'am." Dixie and I left the hospital holding hands.
We couldn't believe she was gone.
