steve was walking down the sidewalk. he was going to meet bucky for a coffee and to talk about some things.

bucky was the one to arrange the little rendezvous, and the conversation topic still a mystery to steve.

nonetheless, steve carried on down the sidewalk. he had a baseball cap and hoodie on. for some reason, this casual 'disguise' always did its job.

well, until it came to shorter persons by the categorical label of 'children.' speaking of, a girl, probably seven or eight, stopped just two steps to his right front.

he paused upon seeing her.

she was no taller than his waist and had her dark hair tied into pigtails. she wore a bright yellow tiara atop her head with matching bands at her wrists and ankles.

she was holding her mother's hand when she stopped, causing the mother to stop too. the mother then realized who he was and he crouched to meet the small girl's eyesight.

"princess diana, it's a pleasure to meet you." he shook her hand graciously. "i'm a big fan of your shield." she had her shield-shaped backpack strapped to her back like the wonder woman from the comics.

"i'm, i'm not princess diana-"

"of course not!" he exclaimed to her. "you're wonder woman, where are my manners?" he stood and gave a comical wink to the mother. "thank you again for all you do, princess."

he trotted away before the girl could oppose again. he left her in awe, and questioning her true identity. he had a small smile on his face when he stepped into the coffee shop bucky told him about.

he saw bucky sitting at a booth with two coffees, so that's where steve went. he sat opposite of bucky.

steve's smile vanished when he saw the grave look on bucky's face. "what'd you want to talk about?" steve sipped his coffee gingerly.

"it's going to sound utterly ridiculous," bucky confessed. bucky fidgeted with an overlap on his prosthetic, his eyes unable to meet steve's.

"tell me anyway."

bucky's hands went around his coffee cup. "have you heard of the DC comic book character wonder woman?"

steve thought about the girl on the street in the wonder woman outfit. "yeah, i've heard of her."

bucky took a sip of his coffee. he lowered his voice and said, "she's in town."

"i know there's a wonder woman convention for the movie-"

"no. she's here, the actual princess diana."

steve laughed, but stopped when he saw bucky's expression fail to waver. "you're not kidding, are you?"

"not in the least."

"how, though?" steve pushed his coffee away, suddenly loosing his appetite for the caffeine. "it's ridiculous for a comic book character to be alive, up and off the pages..."

bucky shrugged. "it doesn't matter how. we need to do something about it and fast. before she's seen in the public' eye-"

a small explosion went off across the street from where they were sitting and a woman with black hair, a red and blue one piece, and golden accessories appeared from the thrown ash. she had a young girl rested on her hip - the girl from the street - and the unconscious mother over her shoulder.

this woman, wonder woman, laid the mother safely on the sidewalk and let the small girl down to stand by.

steve was already out the door and coming to the scene. steve got on the ground, checking for a pulse and was quickly relieved when he found one. wonder woman, well diana, looked at this stranger. steve's hat had fallen off as he ran and his hood had dropped with it. she recognized him in his frenzy.

"you're steve rogers, from the comics and movies," she stated in awe.

"what movies?" he asked, though most of his attention was consumed with the mother. he put his ear to her mouth, she was breathing regularly.

"captain america: the first avenger; captain america: the winter soldier..." she looked up to see bucky arrive.

"i called 911," he stated. steve sat back a moment. bucky looked at diana for the first time.

"she's breathing and her pulse is regular. we have to wait for authorities. there's nothing i can do right now," he said. the little girl nodded and sat beside him, watching her mother closely.

"you're him," diana spoke to bucky, glancing at the metal hand that peeked from his sweatshirt. "the winter soldier, from-"

"the comics and movies," steve supplied. bucky tucked his hand in his pocket, almost embarrassed by his identity.

"exactly, what on earth are you doing here?"

"us?" bucky asked her. "what about you?"

"what about me?" she stood to get to his height. she was surprisingly muscular. she crossed her arms defensively.

"wait a minute." steve stood. "your universe is where we aren't real, and you're in our universe where you aren't real. only question is, how'd you get here?"

"the last thing i remember is bruce testing out a new tool..."

the authorities showed up. bucky insisted on taking her out of the crowded street. they could only deal with one thing at a time, let alone any press coverage. steve was left with leaving a brief explanation of what happened. he also ushered the mini-diana into their care.

he followed to where bucky had left to.

"so you're good buddies with batman?" was what bucky said before realizing steve was there.

"we're colleagues, yeah," she stated and turned to steve. "he said it was a gift from doctor wells, a friend of barry's-"

"doctor wells?" steve asked. "like evil doctor wells?"

"evil?" she shifted uncomfortably.

"that guy's bad news in the show, 'the flash'."

"show?" her hands curled into fists. she obviously didn't enjoy this. "you think this was planned?"

"i think he planned to get barry in some way," steve said. "but somehow got you instead. any plan on getting home?"

"bruce gave me teleporter, just in case."

"why didn't you say that earlier?" bucky's voice strained. she shot him a glare.

"you didn't ask." she pulled it almost out of no where and held the device up. she dialed what they assumed were dates and locations and she pressed the final green button.

she held it up, expecting something grand to happen.

but it didn't.

nothing happened.
