Everything was perfect.

Note the past tense in that sentence.

I had a great life. Maybe not perfect, but damn was it enjoyable.

I've been completely thrown off track ever since Simon came back into the picture.

He's forever in my mind, making me lose focus.

I miss the simple days.

Days where I had nothing to worry about.

No responsibilities, no work, no cares.

Just pure and utter imagination. Fun.

When I was younger, I'd put my arms in my shirt and told people I had lost my arms;

I'd restart a game whenever I knew I was going to lose,

Slept with all the stuffed animals as a child so none of them felt left out,

I had that one pen with four colours, and attempted to push them all down at once,

Poured water into a bottle cap and pretended i was taking a shot,

The hardest decision I had to make was what to have for dinner,

Faked being asleep, so I could be carried to bed,

Used to think the moon followed the car,

Watching two drops of rain fall down the window, treating it as a race,

The only thing I had to take care of was a tamagotchi,

The only 'fake' friends I had were invisible ones,

Swallowed a fruit seed and was scared to death incase a tree was going to grow inside my belly,

Getting bruised knees heals better than a broken heart.

Remember when we were kids we couldn't wait to grow up? What the hell were we thinking?

All these so called 'struggles.' These 'hard' decisions.

I'd kill to have them back.

"Babe?" Laura spoke, taking me out of my thoughts.

I looked at her with creased brows.

"You've been lost recently, babe." She frowned.

"What do you mean?" I asked, gazing at her.

"I mean, you're not here." She sighed.

"I'm sorry I've been a little caught up in work, but-"

"It's not that but, is it?" She paused, "Why are you putting this off?"

"Laura, he's not capable of looking after my child. He's incompetent when it comes to caring for a family of his own." I stated, knowing exactly what she was talking about.

"He's made mistakes, Adele. We all have. He deserves a chance." Laura lectured me, as she always does.

"I won't have him hurting Angelo." I huffed.

"You can't predict what's going to happen."

"Can't I? I mean, history repeats itself. The divorce mirrored Clary. The kid? Does that remind you of something? Laura, admit it. He's the same guy he's always been." I scoffed.

"Mummy, look!" Angelo's cheery voice broke conversation.

I turned with a bright smile, only for it to be altered to a frown, when I see Angelo holding Simon's hand.

"Who let you in?" I snapped, taking Angelo into my arms, causing their hands to disconnect.

"I did Mumma, I used my big boy stool." Angelo grinned.

I raised an eyebrow at him, trying to hold in my own grin.

I smiled softly instead, "You're very smart, baby."

He nodded, "Daddy smart too. He a big boss man."

"He's not smart enough to keep his distance though is he?" I smiled sarcastically at Simon.

"Daddy can sleepover?" Angelo questioned, tilting his head.

"Daddy's very busy, honey. Maybe another night?" I frowned, moving hair away from his face.

"Don't be silly." Simon said, causing my head to snap towards him, "I'm sure I can take the day off." He shrugged.

"Babe, I should head." Laura said, "Lovely seeing you again, Simon." She nodded towards him.

"Call me when you get home." I nodded, kissing her cheek.

"Will do." She smiled, kissing Angelo too, "I'll see you later." She shouted before I heard the door shut.

"Mummy and daddy time." Angelo smiled brightly.

"Why don't you and daddy go pick out a movie to watch?" I sighed, giving in to Angelo's pleading eyes.

"Let's go, daddy." Angelo grinned, taking Simons hand.

"You've done an amazing job with him." Simon smiled.

"We've been through all this. Why can't you give it up?" I sighed.

"What have you been up to?" He asked, ignoring my attitude.

"You mean other than raising our son alone?" I questioned.

"Adele." He huffed.

"Nothing. You can't do much with a child hanging round your neck twenty-four seven." I shrugged.

"So you haven't seen anyone?" His eyebrow raised in curiosity.

"Was I supposed to be frigid all this time?" I scoffed.

"Well, yeah." He said, seriously.

"As a matter of fact, I've been with a few guys." I shrugged, fixing the pillows on the couch.

"Oh, so you got around?" His bitterness surprised me.

"I guess you could say that, yeah." I snapped at him, ignoring his assumptions.

"You're so fucking irresponsible!" He suddenly shouted.

"I see you still possess the same temper." I stated.

"God Adele! Yes, I get jealous. I get mad. I get worried. I get curious. But that's only because I don't want to lose you!"

"You pushed me away, Simon. You asked for the divorce. You neglected me. You had a whole other family waiting for you when I left. You can't put this on me." I said calmly.

"You know what family means to me." He sighed.

"Well what about me? Did I not mean anything to you?" The tears were rising in my eyes.

"You know you mean everything to me, Sunshine." He frowned, walking closer to me.

As I heard my nickname slip from his mouth, my heart melted.

His arms engulfed me into a hug. My head resting against his shoulder.

"Don't cry, Addie. It's okay, angel." He hushed me, running his fingers through my hair.
