My head snapped towards Simon in an instant.

He stayed silent with a nervous look in his eyes.

"Son?" Andrew said.

I nudged Simon, although he stayed silent.

I sighed, "I wanted to go travelling for a while. Learn about the different cultures before I began the business." I smiled

It wasn't entirely a lie. I did travel for a year after I had Angelo. I then came home and began my own clothing line.

"You always have been very devoted to that dream of yours." Rosemary smiled, rubbing my arm.

"At least it all paid off." I smiled, squeezing Simon's hand as he was still silent.

"How are you two doing anyway? Simon always boasts about you every chance he gets." Andrew smiled.

I smirked while looking up at, a now flustered, Simon.

"We're fine Dad." Simon muttered.

"Me and your dad will go get you guys some drinks," Rosemary said to Simon, "I want to introduce you to someone, Adele."

I smiled as they walked away then immediately dragged Simon to the side of the hall.

"You didn't tell them we got a divorce?!" I shouted.

"Would you lower your voice?" Simon muttered, smiling at the watching eyes.

"Simon what were you thinking?" I sighed.

"They loved you so much Adele. What was I supposed to do?"

"Maybe not hide the divorce? Didn't your dad's company finalise the papers? How is he oblivious?" I was becoming aggravated.

"It never went through him." He shrugged.

"This is the only reason you wanted me to come tonight? So you could continue to lie about our now non-existent marriage?" I huffed.

"It's just for tonight, Adele." He pouted.

"You need to tell them Simon. If you don't, I will." I said before walking towards Rosemary with a smile.

"Ah, Adele. This is my friend Amelia, Simon's godmother. Amelia, this is Adele, Simon's wife." She grinned.

I sighed, "Rosemary..." I started, but then made eye contact with Simon over her shoulder.

His eyes were pleading and apologetic.

I smiled sadly before turning back to Amelia.

"It's lovely to meet you." I smiled, before shaking her hand.

The night went on as it usually does.

Everyone was currently sitting at their designated tables and speeches had just been delivered.

Food was served and everyone is socialising amongst themselves.

Not once has Simon's hand left my thigh and I'd be lying if I said I wanted it to.

In the midst of a conversation, i caught a glimpse of the clock and my eyes instantly widened.

"I should get going." I announced to the table.

Rosemary's smile instantly dropped, "Oh, but darling I've not seen you in years."

"I'm sorry." I frowned towards her.

"I'll take you." Simon said, standing to say goodbye to his parents.

As I was hugging Andrew, Simon asked, "Can't you just stay a while longer, Love?"

"I need to get home to the baby, Simon." I sighed.

Simon's eyes widened and I immediately realised my mistake.

"The baby?" Andrew questioned.

Neither of us answered him.

"Adele you had a baby?" Andrew asked me directly.

I smiled nervously at him and that was all it took for Rosemary to explode.

"Simon Christopher Konecki! How dare you!" She shouted, hitting him on the back of the head.

I flinched at her tone. She continued to scold her son and I couldn't help but feel guilty about it.

"Rosemary-"

"How old are they?" She cut me off instantly.

I went to speak but was instantly cut off by her questioning again, "What's their name? Have you got a picture? Oh, Delly can I meet them?" She practically sobbed.

I took her hand and smiled sadly, "He's three, four October 19th. His name is Angelo, I have a picture in my purse and I can bring him over whenever you're free."

Simon handed me my purse and I pulled out one of Angelo's baby pictures.

"Oh Adele he's gorgeous." She grinned with teary eyes.

"Isn't he?" Simon butted in.

Rosemary's head instantly whipped round to see Simon with a scowl.

"I'm not done with you, Simon." She snapped.

"I really need to go. I've left him with my mum and she's not really used to his sleeping habits." I smiled.

"Of course." She smiles, "Oh and Delly, how does tomorrow sound?" She asks with hopeful eyes.

"Perfect." I smiled back.
