"It's yours." He huffed, crossing his arms.

"Simon I don't need it anymore. Cathy is back in the states." He's too stubborn.

"The ring is yours Adele." The anger was building up.

His obsession with me keeping this ring was unbearable.

"No it's not. It stopped being mine the moment we divorced Simon!" I shouted.

The hurt in his eyes was evident.

"Mummy?" A small voice sounded.

I turn for my eyes to meet Angelo's. He's staring at me with a mix of confusion and worry visible.

"Yes, baby?" I smiled, spreading my arms as he ran into them.

He looked between Simon and I, "I was wanting a little bit of cake." He spoke quietly.

I couldn't help the laugh that escaped.

"After dinner. Okay, handsome?" I smiled, smoothing his hair down.

"Okay." He grinned.

"Now, why don't you leave mummy and daddy to talk for a while, and I'll come get you when dinner is ready." I placed him on his feet.

"Okay, mumma. Be quick, yeah?" He shouted, running away.

He always made me laugh.

I turned back to look at Simon to see him with his arms folded across his chest.

"Stop being so stubborn and take the damn ring back." I huffed.

"You're my wife, Adele. You will be wearing this ring as long as you are."

"What the hell are you talking about?" I sighed.

He placed my ring on the coffee table which was separating us, and left. Just like that.

I sighed in defeat.

I turned away from the ring and made my way upstairs.

"Angelo." I said in a sing-song voice.

I could hear his laugh as I neared his play room.

"Baby?" I questioned, opening the door.

"Boo!" Angelo yelled, breaking into a toothy grin.

"Oh my goodness!" I gasped, faking surprise.

"I scared you so good!" He laughed, lunging himself into my arms.

"You did, angel." I smiled, kissing his cheek.

"Hey! Where's daddy?" He asked.

"Daddy had to go home." I answered, walking downstairs with him.

"Oh, okay " he smiled.

Angelo had become significantly closer to Simon. Although there was that initial spark between them, Angelo was still adjusting to the newly found father figure.

It had always been Angelo and I. It's what he was used to.

I placed him down as I turned on the TV.

"Ooh, mummy look!" Angelo gasped walking towards the coffee table.

"What is it, baby?" I asked, turning to meet his eyes.

He held up the ring, grinning at the shine.

"Wear it, mumma?" He pouted.

"It's daddy's, Baby. He forgot to take it with him." I smiled sadly.

"But he won't mind, mummy. I promise."

The one weakness I have...
