"He can't remember. It was dark." I sighed, talking to the police.

Angelo was sat on my lap, finally asleep after Simon and I calming him down.

"There's not a lot to go on Mrs Konecki." The police said with sad eyes.

"I know that but can you not look in to it? A man broke into my house, went into my sons room and violated our privacy." I began to get angry.

"Babe, calm down." Simon whispered, holding the small of my back.

"Look," I sighed, "All my son remembers is he had short brown hair, brown eyes and he was tall. He can't tell you anything else. Can you please just keep an eye out?"

"Of course we can Miss. We'll keep looking." The other officer smiled sadly.

"I'll show you the door." My mum spoke up, leading the two policemen out of the house.

"Everything will be okay, Laurie." Simon said, taking me into his arms.

"How do you know that?" I asked, welling up.

"Don't cry, baby."

"I wasn't there for him. I wasn't there to protect him. I'm such a horrible mother." I sobbed.

"You're here now. You were there when he called for you. He's fine Laurie. He's still here and that's all that matters." Simon said, kissing my forehead.

"I've taken the day off." I said to Simon whilst handing him his coffee.

"How come?" He asked with a raised brow.

"I'm not comfortable leaving him. Not yet, at least. I promise I'll go back eventually, just not yet."

"Laurie, it's fine. Take as long as you need." He smiled sadly, "Did he sleep okay?"

"He tossed and turned a bit, but never woke." I sighed.

"Did you sleep okay?" He asked with accusing eyes.

"I couldn't get over." I shrugged.

He sighed, pulling me into a hug, "I need to head. Try get some sleep." He said, kissing me softly.

"I love you." I nodded.

"I love you too, Laurie." He smiled, heading for the door.

That day off work turned into two weeks off.

I was completely uncomfortable leaving Angelo with anyone other than myself. He's been by my side ever since the incident and he refuses to let me out of his sight.

I was finally going back to work but, of course, Angelo was coming with me.

He was wrapped in a blanket and had his jammies and slippers on.

"It's only for a little while baby, then daddy's coming to pick us up." I smiled, holding him as I walked to my office.

"Adele!" I heard from behind me.

Being addressed so informally surprised me, especially due to me being the boss.

I turned with furrowed brows for my eyes to meet Liam's.

"Mr Hart." I sighed.

"You can call me Liam, you know?"

"And why would I do that?" I asked.

"Because we're friends." He smiled.

"Are we?" I questioned, causing his cheeks to heat up, "Can i help you?"

"I just wanted to ask how you were. I heard there was an incident a couple weeks ago. Someone broke into your house?"

"I'm fine Mr Hart, now if you'd excuse me i need to get to work."

"Just so you know, if you ever need anything, i'm here." He said, stepping closer.

Immediately feeling uncomfortable, I stepped back.

"Thank you but, I have plenty of trustworthy people around me." I said, turning my back on him and walking towards my office.

"Oh so I'm not trustworthy?" He questioned.

"Back to work, Mr Hart." I shouted before shutting my office door.

A/N i got my braces off and i feel sick and my mouth hurts.

it's crazy thinking when i first came on this i only just got my braces and now i have them off. two years went fast.
