After Jax left to get his head on straight he decided to head to petalburg city to start his new adventure off. Jax landed in the trees and turned back into his human form to enter the town. He decided to let Jozie out to try and get to know her better. They decided to head into town and talk at the same time. Jozie seemed very shy as if she had been through some traumatic.
Jax reassured her he and his team would make sure nothing bad would happen to her during their training and battles. Jozie looked at him and asked if he was a nice trainer. He replied with a nod which surprised the small water type. She walked closer to him to make sure she wasn't imagining things. Jax picked her up and explained that he can understand Pokemon and even transform into them. He demonstrated by turning his hand into a one of a corphish claw.
Jax promised that he would make her a strong Swampert no matter how long it takes. They began to walk to the gym to try and challenge it. He was met with a well dressed fellow who told him he needed to four hoenn gym badges to challenge Norman. Jax asked the man where the next nearest gym was. The man said the nearest reachable gym was in rustboro city and that the leaders name was Roxanne.
Jax heeded the mans warning and began to come up with a plan on how he would overcome the first gym. He wondered how many Pokemon he would be allowed to use. Jax saw a beach along with a forest entrance. As night began to fall Jax had to decide whether to camp out on the beach or in the forest. He decided on camping out on the beach. He let everyone out all of his Pokemon he had with him. Blake and Kurama looked around at their surroundings and not seeing any of their other friends besides Jax and Asura. they noticed a new face and began to question the small water type on where their friends were.
Jax hit both of them on the head saying that the others were taking a break and hanging out with professor Oak in pallet town. Kurama began digging through Jax's bag to find the poke gear to try and contact the lab to get the rest of his friends over to where he was. The small shiny fire fox instead found a small box. He opens it to see several shining stones and accidentally touched the red one with his nose. He begins to glow with an odd white light. Soon the small fox began to change forms and grow three more tails.
As the light fades they all see that in place of the shiny vulpix was a shiny ninetails making his name even more special. Jax scolds the ninetails for opening something that wasn't his. Kurama replied that he misses his friends and wants them back. Jax stops scolding him saying that he will see them again. He continues by saying that he wanted them to meet some new friends and get used to a new region. Blake simply watched as the fox made mischief. He walked over to the water type and asked her name. She replied with the name Jax gave her.
As Kurama calmed down they noticed that Asura was nowhere to be seen. Jax looked around and used his aura to summon her to his side. Out of nowhere he blocked an attack from above and saw that Asura was testing the commitment of her trainer. They began to spar to make sure they weren't getting rusty with their skills. Asura began to take ideas from her past battles and tried to catch Jax off guard. Jax caught on and immediately switched his fighting style.
Asura noticed he jumped back and took an odd fighting stance. She was confused but refused to let him get the chance to regroup and get a feel for his surroundings. She charged him and tried using close combat to move faster. Her defense and special defense dropped in exchange for the powerful fighting type move. As soon as she stopped Jax saw an opening ad hit her in her stomach and sent her flying. Asura got up angrier than before. Jax stopped her and told her to calm down and that her anger would always cloud her judgement.
She calmed down and sat by the fire to think her next battle style through. Jax and the rest of the team sat with her to comfort her. Asura looked around and noticed the small pink mudkip. She walked over to her and asked her name and role on the team. Jax got up and answered for his small mudkip saying her name and saying her role was to follow in all of their footsteps and become stronger like they all have.
They all decided to get some rest before headed to the forest to get to rustboro city for their first gym battle in a new region. Jax watched over all of his Pokemon so they could get some rest. Asura felt that her was watching so they wouldn't be ambushed by anything. After three hours of rest Asura traded shifts with Jax so he could get some rest. As morning came he returned them all to their balls except for Jozie who climbed onto Jax's shoulder so she could see more of the world.
They entered the forest so he could do some serious training for Jozie. Jax used his abilities to use sweet scent and starts a horde battle.
