Ch. 21 The past before the experiment and a firey re-encounter

Jax opened the box to reveal a police badge brand new with a note attached. The note read "Jax if you are reading this and have been given this back then it must mean we need your help once more. There has been an incident in the small town of fallarbor town." Jax returned his Pokemon and flew all the way over to fallarbor town where he met up with the police to help out.

At first he was stopped by an officer who told him "Sorry but we can't allow anyone passed here without proper authorization". Jax kept a serious face on as he showed the officer a badge that made him shake in his $5 police shoes. Jax walked past him and continued until he reached what the people of hoenn call meteor falls. As he walked in he saw a scientist standing alone he decided it would be best to have Asura use her aura to scout out the area. Jax saw as she closed her eyes and began to feel around the cave with aura. As she finished asura told him that their were several bodies coming in the scientist's direction. Hearing this Jax said for her to wait until he gives the signal to attack.

Jax made his way over to the scientist and just as he was about to say something several team Magma grunts began to come up the stairs and demand that he give up the meteorite he found. The scientist coward behind Jax asking the trainer he had never met to save him.

Jax looked at the scientist then at Asura who seemed to be holding someone back. Jax sent out Kurama and said that he could beat them all in battle using only two Pokemon.

They all began to laugh at the boy as they took him up on his offer. They all sent out poochyena to attack Kurama. Jax began to chuckle as he allowed them to have the first attack. The dark type dog Pokemon began to bum rush the large fox. Jax used aura to tell Asura when he Kurama to use psychic flame to fire an aura sphere at any that dodge. As soon as Jax felt they were close enough he yelled out "use psychic flame. The grunts all looked at each other confused trying to see if any of them knew what kind of attack that was. They all looked back at the ninetales to see it charging up what looked like a flamethrower but the fire soon began to glow with an odd purple aura around it. The grunts all told their Pokemon to dodge but for some it was to late. The ones that weren't able to dodge were engulfed by the mysterious fire.

The ones that did dodge had all jump to attack. The second they were all about to use bite a large blue ball of energy came flying and hit them all out of the way. Asura walked over to stand next to Kurama. The grunts began to complain that he cheated. Jax corrected them restating that he said he would use two Pokemon to beat them. They all began to think as they remember him saying that.

Soon after the team leader Maxie pushed his way to the front of his large group. He looked at the boy and handed him an envelope with Jax's name on it. Maxie soon walked away as Brendan soon came running. As the group left something in the crowd caught the boys eye. It was a young girl who looked at Jax with admiration in her eyes. Brendan saw something similar but the girl he saw blew him a kiss. Jax turned his attention to the envelope addressed to him. He opened it to reveal a letter and a small card. Jax read through the letter carefully and saw it was an invitation to some type of party that was set in a few weeks. The card was for the address which was odd because it only showed a picture of a cave. Jax put the letter and card in his backpack and headed back to fallarbor town to notify the police officer. He went up to the one that he nearly made wet himself. This time the officer was saluting him.

Jax told the man to calm down and that the threat has passed. The police soon left the town and Brendan asked if he could tag along on his trip to the next town. Jax knew it was only so he could see that girl again but none the less he said yes. As they were leaving town the scientist who Brendan referred to as Dr. Cosmo said they stole one of the meteorites he found. Jax remembered seeing a strange machine on the top of the volcano and realized that is where they must be headed. Jax and Brendan looked at each other and nodded as they began a full sprint towards the tram up to the top of the volcano. They slowed down once they reached the firey path Jax still had a lot of energy in him while Brendan was out of breath. They decided to take a break as the sun was going down. Brendan set up his tent and let all his Pokemon out. He had a grovyle, a swellow, a sableye, and a numel. Jax let everyone except his mewtwo out so they could get some fresh air and see the stars. Jax pulled some small machine parts out of his bag and began to mess with it and his pokedex as the night went on and everyone went to sleep Jax continued to work through the dark and finished his invention. He went into the wild grass and caught a random Pokemon to test his invention out. The watch absorbed the data from the pokeball and finished registering the data. After a few minutes he pressed a button and out came the ball and it still held the Pokemon he realized his invention was a success.

Jax put the watch on and it registered his DNA so no one else could use it. He put his pokedex away and got two hours worth of sleep before they continued on their mission to retrieve the meteorite that was stolen.

Jax began to run even faster than the day before while Kurama had Brendan on his back and keeping up with his trainer. As they reached the tram Jax returned all his Pokemon that were running and registered them with his new invention. Brendan was astonished at the watch. The two boys got into the tram as Brendan was asking so many questions. Jax told him to hold his left arm out and hold out his pokedex as well. The boy did as such and felt something clamp onto his wrist because he had his eyes closed for some reason. Jax connected a cord from the watch to the pokedex as it transferred the data he had. Jax told him to keep this on him at all times it was called the nanodex and it worked as a Pokemon storage device but also a pokedex and a communicator to anyone else who wore one. Brendan was surprised that it was so hi-tech.

Soon the boys reached the top and got off. Brendan began to sweat because of the heat. Jax thought this was unnatural even for a volcano. He looked around to see the grunts as well as Maxie at the rim setting up the machine.  Jax told Brendan to handle the grunts while he went after Maxie. They nodded and spread out. As Jax looked into the volcano he saw a large figure that looked like a Pokemon as well as a small figure that looked like a smaller Pokemon looking figure. Jax ignored it for the time being and focused on reaching Maxie. As the looked at each other Maxie asked if he had read both sides of the letter. Jax looked confused as he looked on the other side of the letter and saw that it said in order to challenge him Jax would need to recruit a member of team magma. Jax began to look around until someone stepped up to help him.

It was the girl that had that look of admiration from meteor falls the day before. All the other grunts were surprised as not only her but another girl was helping Brendan. Jax smiled at Maxie and replied that it looked like he earned the right to battle him as he met the conditions of the match. Maxie called his admin tabitha over and said it would be a double battle.

Jax sent out Jozie who now wore a small crown on her head. She walked over and handed it to Jax. The moment she turned to face Maxie and Tabitha she looked as if she had changed into a whole new personality. The female ex-team magma grunt introduced herself as Joan and the girl fighting along side Brendan was her sister Claire. As the battle commenced Joan sent out a ponyta which seemed to throw off their opponents. The battle didn't take long as both the ponyta and Jozie evolved and finished off the opponents with ease. Team magma ran off as the four retrieved the meteorite.

Jax asked Brendan and claire to take it back to Dr. Cosmo while he and joan head to lavaridge town. The two groups parted ways as soon as they reached the bottom of the mountain.
