Ch. 17: Great training and Evil teams

Jax noticed that it was five weak looking Pokemon. Jax checked the pokedex and his memories for information on the Pokemon. It turns out to be wurmple  the worm Pokemon. Jax knew they wouldn't be much of a problem. He told Jozie  to use tackle  on the left most one. He noticed that Jozie wasn't moving he took a closer look and noticed that she was petrified of bug types.

He told her there was nothing to be afraid of and that she could do it. Jozie took a deep breath and used tackle as she was instructed and sent the small bug type flying into a tree knocking it out in one attack. Soon she had her game face on and dodged attacks left and right and one by one she knocked each of them out. She was now able to get over one of her fears and even learn water gun. As they continued they met a young man wearing a lab coat.

He asked if they had seen any shroomish around. Jax sadly said no. Out of nowhere a man in a blue and white striped shirt and blue bandana came up and demanded for the scientist to hand over his paperwork. The scientist ran behind Jax and asked him to protect him. The man said that if that was the case Jax would have to battle him.

Jax gave him a look of boredom. As the battle began Jax had to make a decision on what Pokemon to use. Jozie tugged on his pants leg and said she wanted to battle. Jax agreed and started the battle. Jozie stepped forward and the grunt began to laugh at the color of the mudkip. This only served to make her angry and made her attack power rise.

She went all out when she saw the poochyena and began to attack the defenseless dog Pokemon. As the battle ended Jax told him to never insult any of his Pokemon. The scared grunt agreed to never insult them ever again and he ran off. The scientist began to give Jax and Jozie his gratitude by giving them advice and supplies.

Jax continued to walk through the forest when he spotted a small green and brown Pokemon shuffling in the grass. He walked up to it and saw it was a shroomish and petted it on it's head. The small grass type looked and jumped onto Jax. It started to snuggle into the trainers chest. He decided to ask if it's a boy or a girl. It replied by drawing the sign for male on the dirt. Jax decided to name it Dane.

He put it in a pokeball but broke out and jumped onto his back and bumped into a great ball. It clicked shut and Jax smiled as he began to walk through the rest of the forest. As they got out of the forest Jax sensed something as if someone he knew was nearby. It was behind him. A large force was coming from the forest. He noticed just as soon as it came it disappeared. As if it flew off.

Jax ignored it as if it never happened. Jax saw a building as it began to get dark. He walked in and noticed it was a flower shop. He immediately walked out and decided to sleep outside in the back garden. He sat and started talking to Dane to find out what he was like personality wise. They talked for hours about how he was a brave and outgoing type and that he was ready to fight anyone or anything. Jax started to laugh and Dane got mad and said that he would battle right here right now. Jax raised an eyebrow and brought out Kurama saying that if he was just that tuff then he could face the ninetails.

Dane hesitated as he said yes. Jax began to laugh saying it was just a test. Jax set up a low fire so they could stay warm through the night. Jax took first watch again this time he was in the form of a noctowl so he could stay up all night. He saw nothing but other fires from other trainers.

The night went on with not much going on. As morning came something was wrong with Asura as if she was drawn towards something. Jax quickly returned all his Pokemon to their balls except Asura. He began to follow her until they reached Rustboro city. She stopped in front of the poke mart. Jax hid around a corner to see what was going on. Asura suddenly disappeared from where she was previously was standing.

She appeared behind him and whispered in his ear asking what he was doing. Jax flipped out from being scared. He got very defensive and into a fighting stance to defend himself. He calmed down and asked why she walked off on her own. She answered by satiny that she knew he would follow. Jax got very confused on what was going on.

They decided  since they were already in the city why not do some training for the newbies. Asura agreed as the headed north to a secluded beach. Jax turned into a elekid to face off against Dane and Jozie. Asura was the judge of the battle. Dane went in for the first attack. Jax laughed as he dodged. Jozie stayed back to study jax's moves to come up with the best strategy. Asura noticed and smiled as she took notes on this tactic.

Dane continued to assault Jax with back to back attacks. Jax taunted about how Dane was to reckless with his attacks. Dane looked at Jozie seeing if the time was ready. Jozie nodded in conformation saying it was time for the plan. Jax noticed that he was stuck between a wall and Dane. Jozie used mud slap to weaken Jax. Before Dane could finish off Jax Asura stopped the battle.

Jax laughed saying it was a great strategy. Jozie laughed embarrassed at the compliment but dean acted high and mighty about it as they headed back to town. Jax decided after a short rest they would take on the gym. Jax sat at the center for quite some time before heading to the gym.

Jax walked into the gym to see giant statues of fossil Pokemon everywhere leading up to the gym leader Roxanne. She smiled as Jax walked up to her with a large smile ready to face her. Roxanne asked if it would be fine if they started with a double battle. Jax agreed happily knowing just the perfect team to take this challenge up. Roxanne said they would each use four Pokemon the first match being a double battle while the second and third would be single battles.

Jax agreed and began the match. Jax sent out Dane and Jozie while Roxanne sent out geodude and onix. Jax knew that Dane and Jozie had a plan on how to take down any enemy they came across. Dane began to run a distraction to give Jozie time to strategize. Dane began to use moves like leech seed and headbutt to completely distract both rock types from seeing what Jozie was doing. Jozie suddenly used a strong water gun on both rock types at once knocking both out at the same time winning the first round. The two small Pokemon began to rejoice with their first gym battle victory.

Jax returned the two to their balls and sent Asura out to finish the gym battle and win the badge. Roxanne sent out her nosepass. Roxanne was curious as to what type of Pokemon Asura was. As the match began Asura dodged all of the opposing Pokemon's attacks. Jax looked closer and noticed her eyes were closed the entire time. Jax face palmed at the fighting type who was  showing off. Jax let his fighting type take care of the nosepass. As the rock type fainted Roxanne threw Jax something small and round. Jax caught it and realized it was the gym badge. Jax looked surprised as he thought there was one more battle to go through. Jax sat in the gym to relax and to congratulate Dane and Jozie on their first gym victory.
