As Brendan and Claire left Jax looked at his nanodex to see what time it was and realized it was almost 6:00pm and they had no place to stay I time. Joan suggested that they stay at pokemon center for the night and then head to the gym in the morning. Asura came out of her pokeball with a look of suspicion on her face. She whispered in Jax's ear that they should keep an eye on her. Jax agreed and walked towards the pokemon center with Asura and Joan.
Jax walked into the center to see it completely empty. They all looked confused as to why the center was so barren. They walked up to nurse joy to see if they could get two rooms for the night. Nurse Joy looked at them with the same happy look on her face as any other Nurse Joy. She handed Jax and Joan each a key and point them in two different directions. Joan looked sad as she walked toward her room and Jax walked to his. As the trainer reached their room they felt a familiar presence on the other side of the door. Asura got ready to attack. They opened the door to reveal a ninja who turn to them with a smile. "How ya been Jax" the ninja said in a feminine voice. "I'm great did you bring what I asked for" Jax replied with a smirk on his face. "But of course my dear child" the ninja said as she held out a bag to the trainer. "Thanks and I'll be sure to contact you again if I need your help. The ninja disappeared into thin air and leaves. "Great now I have to clean up these leaves" Jax complained as he began to clean up the mess.
Joan's POV
As Joan got to her room she began to wonder how Jax felt about her as she began to blush. Soon she heard a knock on her door. When she opened the door she saw none other than Archie the leader of team Aqua standing in front of her." How's it going little lady" Archie said as he forced his way into the room. "What does the leader of team Aqua want with..." Before she could finish her sentence Archie whispered something that made her freeze in her tracks. "You wouldn't stand a chance against him in your wildest dreams" Joan said as she turned towards the window. "Suit yourself I'll be on my way then oh and one more thing try not to get jealous she can be very affectionate towards male trainers" Archie said as left the room and the center with a huge grin on his face.
Jax POV
As morning came Jax and Joan headed to the gym so Jax could go for his fourth gym badge. As they walked into the gym it felt like a sauna in the gym. They saw that their were two ways one way lead to hot sand and the other way lead to a tall ledge. Joan began to walk towards the sand Jax grabbed her. "Hold on tight" he said as his nails became sharper and more like steel. They began to scale the large ledge to the gym leader instead of going the long way around. As they scaled it Joan was confused as to how Jax could do this. When they reached the top they saw a tall girl facing towards a wall. The two were very confused as to why the gym leader was doing this. As Jax walked up to her she turned to say something but stopped as she began to blush at the boy.
"M-My name is flannery" she said as she continued to blush. "Well can I battle for a gym badge" Jax asked. "Of course well I'm still a new gym leader but I will battle with all I've got" Flannery said as she looked into the air. Joan began to think what was going on with Flannery until she remembered what Archie said the night before. Joan began to grow furious and jealous of Flannery who was fawning over Jax. The battle soon began as Jax sent out Jozie against Flannery's Houndoom. Jax didn't even smile knowing he had type advantage. Joan began to cheer for the Marshtomp thinking all was well.
"Jozie use water gun with mud shot" Jax yelled confusing Joan and Flannery until they saw what he was planning as the mud began to pile up in front of the Marshtomp into a wall. "Houndoom break down that wall with Flamethrower" she yelled as the wall reach completion. It broke through the wall only to hit nothing but a wall.
"Where did it go" Flannery said as she began to look around for the water ground type as her houndoom was hit with a stream of water knocking it out it turns out Marshtomp hid behind the wall of mud that had hardened thanks to houndoom. "Return houndoom" Flannery said as she held out its pokeball then pulled out another one and sent out a camerupt. "Return Jozie" Jax said before sending out a small blue Pokemon. "Let's go Mary" he shouted. Flannery was ready this time as she shouted " camerupt use sunny day". To this Jax smiled as instead of a bright sun clouds began to form and rain began to fall. "What is going on why is it raining" Flannery said in complete disbelief as she looked at the small water mouse Pokemon. "I had Mary use rain dance as you use sunny day" Jax said very calmly as the water mouse fired a strong water pulse at the camerupt was sent flying back into a wall. The small water mouse suddenly fell as it fainted as well." I see she is still suffering from that disease" Jax said sadly as the rain cleared up. "What do you say the last battle be a triple battle". This confused Flannery but she agreed with a blush. Jax returned Mary and sent out Asura, Blake, and Anabeth the mewtwo. Blake now being a full grown shiny charizard. Flannery looked on at the fire flying type. She sent out a Typhlosion, Numel, and a regular charizard.
" Ready guys" Jax said as his Pokemon nodded at him. Asura used aura sphere as Blake used flamethrower to give it a boost while Anabeth used psychic to blend the attacks together as well as split them into three to attack all the opposing Pokemon at once. As the dust that was brought up from the explosion cleared all three opposing Pokemon were standing back to back which gave Flannery false hope as she called out "triple flamethrower" to which Jax and his team laughed. "Take a closer look" Jax said and she noticed that all of her Pokemon had fainted.
"Thanks for the battle" Jax said returning his Pokemon. Flannery could only stare at the abilities of the trainer before her. "Here the flame badge a sign that you beat me" Flannery said as she threw him the badge. He caught it as he walked off followed by Joan as they made their way back towards the exit.
"Joan I need you to do me a favor and spy on team magma for me ok?" Jax asked with a sincere smile as he gave her his pokenav and imputed the contact to his nanodex. She nodded as she ran off towards the volcano. Jax took out a small box and did a call for a Fearow. As one showed up he put three more nanodexes in it along with a video card. He told the Fearow to give this box to this girl as he showed it a picture of melody. As it flew off he called another one and did the same as before but this time showed it a mental picture of kumori. As it flew off Jax remembered what the video card said.
" this message is for those who receive these nanodexes I would like you to meet me in fortree city so that we can discuss what we will do about teams Aqua and Magma. There will be instructions in these watches. Please heed these instructions."
