Ch.20: The trick house and the city thats a mall

As Jax left slateport and the rest of the group he decided to train and take a break. Jax decided to use his powers to train his Pokemon somewhere secluded. Jax decided to pair them up into groups of two he paired Dane with Jozie and Asura with Kurama. He had Mewtwo wait so they could do some training against each other. Mewtwo grew a bit angry as she watched the others battle.

Dane and Jozie were going at it like no tomorrow. Jozie was actually thinking fast so she could keep up with the speedy shroomish. Oddly though Dane began to strategize instead of attacking head on like he usually does. Jax couldn't help but smile as he saw that they were rubbing off on each other. Jax remembered an old saying from when he was a kid iron sharpens iron as friend sharpens friend.

If anyone can guess where I got that quote from they will get a special surprise in the next chapter.

Jax then turned his attention to Kurama and Asura who where going over strategies instead of battling. Jax walked over to get a better listen for their conversation. Asura was talking about how Kurama could use flamethrower to block the path of the opponent if he combined it with psychic. Kurama listened on as he nodded to the ideas. Both not knowing that their trainer was listening. Kurama told Asura if she were to use Aura sphere but shoot it straight up and when it comes back down she uses close combat to give it an extra boost in power and speed it would deal more damage. The two began to use the ideas they were given Jax backed up a little so he wouldn't get caught in the crossfire of the combo attacks.

The battles raged on for about an hour before they all stopped to rest in which Jax transformed into a Chansey to heal them all up. As Jax finished healing his team up he turned to Mewtwo with a huge smirk on his face. They both knew it was time to battle. Jax transformed into a Mewtwo so their power would be even. They both decided to hold back quite a bit so they didn't cause too much damage to the surrounding area.

Mewtwo lunged straight forward to attack with a focus punch but Jax used Aura sphere to block the attack and then ran in for a close range shadow ball. Mewtwo went flying into a tree causing it to shake. She got up with an even angrier expression on her face. She opened her eyes as she used psyshock to catch Jax off guard as she then fired a shadow ball of her own. Jax quickly dodged the attacks.

The shadow ball continued to fly until it hit a small house by the water. Mewtwo calmed down from her anger and saw what she had done. She closed her eyes again and just floated there. Jax returned all his pokemon except Jozie as he picked her up and ran to apologize for what his Pokemon did. As he walked through the gaping hole in the wall he saw a huge room filled with a labyrinth of doors.

Jax began to look in awe as he walked through the maze of doors as he battled trainers left and right until he found not only scroll which read trick master is cool but he also found Brendan who he hadn't seen since littleroot town. They greeted each other with a friendly one on one battle which ended in a tie between Jozie and treeko. After Jax healed both of the Pokemon up with items that mewtwo brought with her. The two boys returned their Pokemon to their pokeballs they decided to head on through and finish the maze together. As they reached a password locked door Jax put in the password he found on the scroll and the door slowly open to reveal a bright room. The two slowly walked into the room and saw a single man sitting at a table sipping from a small tea cup.

Jax asked if the man owned this house hoping the answer would be no but the man was the owner known as the trick master. Jax began to apologize but was stopped mid-sentence by the trick master. The trick master informed him that he has to fix holes in the walls from all the time so he shouldn't worry about it. He then said that if he was challenging gyms that he should visit the mauville gym. Jax nodded as he left and headed north to the next city. As he looked around on his way he noticed that above him was the hoenn regions cycling road. He continued to walk until he reached what seemed to be a mall.

As he walked in he realized that it wasn't just a mall it was also mauville city. Jax was surprised as he walked through until he was stopped by an officer jenny who asked him if he was Jax. He nodded as he was handed something in a small box. Officer jenny saluted him as she walked off. Jax put the box in his back pocket as he continued to look around until he found the gym.

Jax walked in as he saw electric doors. Jax smirked as he used his powers to make the electric doors short circuit. As he walked up to the gym leader he saw a very round man standing faced toward a wall. Jax tapped his shoulder asking if the man was ok. The round man turned to face Jax and began to laugh saying he was perfectly fine he was just fixing the electric doors because they malfunctioned all of a sudden. Jax looked away as he said he was a challenger. The large man introduced himself as wattson the electric gym leader of mauville city. Jax smiled as he pulled out a pokeball. Wattson sensed the trainers determination to win as well as his determination to battle. He pulled out his pokeball and said let the battle begin.

Wattson sent out his magnemite while Jax sent out Kurama. Jax was given first move. He called fire star as Kurama used an odd flamethrower looking attack knocking the magnemite out in one hit.

Wattson was surprised at how quickly his Pokemon had been knocked out. He realized he wasn't dealing with a beginning trainer but a veteran trainer. He sent out his manectric next. Jax decided to give the gym leader a chance and let him have the first attack. The manectric charged toward Kurama at a blinding speed but with Jax's eyes he could predict where manectric would appear and had Kurama counter it and just barely miss it but grazed the back leg enough to slow down the electric type. Jax used hos quick wits and his high intellect from metagross and alakazam to think even quicker than any normal human.

Manectric begun to slow down because of its leg. Kurama and jax saw their chance to strike and used flamethrower to hit the lower half of the electric type. Manectric howled in pain as its legs were hit by the fire type attack because it couldn't dodge in time. Jax stopped the battle to check on manectric who had not gotten up yet and saw it was hurt from more than just this battle as it had scars on its hind legs. Jax picked up manectric and put it in Watson's arms. He told the old man that manectric wasn't in any shape to battle.  Wattson said that Jax had good eyes. He gave Jax the mauville city badge before rushing off to the Pokemon center.

Jax walked out of the gym and headed north once again to rest by some water with his Pokemon. Jax decided to finally see what was in the box that officer jenny gave him. He opened it and his eyes grew wide to see...
